Modern & Modest Feat. Dainty Jewell’s

I couldn’t choose just a few pictures for this post. There’s a WHOPPING 12 photos because this dress deserves that much. I really can’t explain the feeling I got in my stomach when I first put this dress by Dainty Jewell’s on. I guess some would call it “butterflies.” This fabulous number is for those girls that don’t mind taking risks, for the ones that find complete joy in leopard prints, and especially for those showstoppers out there. You know who you are. The print and shape is bold yet timeless. This stunning piece is more than capable to be worn at any age. I picture myself wearing this for the rest of my life not only because of the timeless factor but the extravagant material is top notch, trust me. The Peter Pan neckline is what made this dress in my opinion. I think this small detail transforms the dress from blah to bang. All of the dresses from Dainty Jewell’s are the epitome of modern and modest. They’re clothes are classy yet stylish. I appreciate a company that doesn’t have to show a lot of skin to sell their clothes. It’s so rare to find modesty these days. You go DJ! (That’s Dainty Jewell’s, for those that don’t understand my slang.)

More about Dainty Jewell’s- “Dainty Jewell’s originally began as a creative outlet for sixteenyearold Charity Jewell. As a young woman intent on living a godly life, she desired to dress not only modestly but in a way that was classy and fashionable. Charity eventually began designing items to sell to other women with similar values and beliefs. She first began by simply upcycling tops, skirts, and dresses by adding embellishments; these bows, ruffles, and attention to dainty details on these garments was the start of a signature line that continues to the present in all of Dainty Jewell’s original designs. Throughout the last few years, Dainty Jewell’s has expanded not only as a modest clothing company but as a ministry for women all across the world who desire to present themselves as intentional ladies.” …More about their story on their dot com HERE.

Perfect in Plaid

IMG_5290IMG_5296IMG_5275IMG_5298 IMG_5277IMG_5302 IMG_5280 Dear Plaid,

You’re classic. You’re preppy. You are timeless. You come in all shapes and sizes. You may be complicated at times. You may be a bit too much for me to handle. Regardless of our relationship, you never fail me when I need you the most. You stole my heart, once again, when I saw you hanging so beautifully in an Anthropologie store in the form of a relaxed shirt dress. I can’t stop the urge to wear you everything single day. Thanks for all that you do.

Love,

Karissa

Okay. I’ve been staring at my computer screen all day. I think I might actually be losing my mind. I’m not lying though. This dress (with pockets) had me breathless the first time I laid my eyes on it. I knew it was gonna be a complete hit. The careless shape is so flattering and fun. It’s perfect for all shapes and sizes. It has quickly become one of my favorites in my closet. I could sleep in it. I’ve worn this shirtdress the past two date nights because it’s so effortless. It’s rare when you find a piece that does all the work for you. I think this little guy is perfect for those country girls out there. Slip this on and you will turn heads, trust me. This might a weird thing to admit but I’m always keeping an eye out for items of clothing that will grow with me. I mean literally. Grow-with-me. Something that will continue to fit me when I’m pregnant or when I get past this phase of not gaining any weight. (It’s bound to happen, I know it.) My eyes are constantly peeled for shapeless silhouettes because I just adore them so much. I really wish people would step out of their comfort zone a little and try a shirt dress like this one. They’re life changing. Being body conscious doesn’t have to be a daily thing. Give yourself a break and where something not so slimming. You will love how free you feel.

For those that are curious, I’m 5’1 and I bought this dress in XS Petite. It’s very fitted but comfortable in the arm/shoulder area and lays perfectly above the knee. I’ve been getting questions on the sizes that I buy, my height and weight. I hope this is helpful. Let me know in the comments below and I will continue to do this. If you find that you may need a different size, Anthropologie has a great return policy. Shop my look below.

The Thing About Fashion Bloggers…

IMG_5174IMG_5180IMG_5188IMG_5181 IMG_5176 IMG_5183 IMG_5185 IMG_5189Creating a title for this outfit post was nearly impossible. I feel like I incorporated so many of my personalities within one single outfit. It’s girly, comfortable, warm, chic, athletic, tomboy, minimal, artistic, and just…me. That’s the thing about fashion bloggers or just fashion lovers in general…we’re a little bit of everything. We don’t stay in one little tiny box. We step out of our comfort zone every single day. We love everything and anything. Fashion is all about being open to the possibilities. It’s about making a girly outfit more tomboy. It’s about throwing on some sneakers when you’re wearing a $1oo fleece sweater. It’s about taking your favorite boyfriend jeans and pairing them with your favorite lipstick. If you can’t tell already, I really enjoy outfits that have a little contradiction within them. Fashion lovers love taking risks. We’re always trying to find new ways to make an outfit more “us” and more unique. We’re innovators. Walking out the door with just a t-shirt and jeans is not a simple task. We’re always searching for our lipstick, our clutch, our heels and our magazine for the road. We’re constantly looking for new ways to reinvent ourselves and our wardrobe. I love fashion. I love who I am since it entered into my life.

Another great thing about fashion is that sometimes outfits bring out the best in you and they take you to some amazing places to meet some amazing people. I met two lovely fashion bloggers in this outfit and I could not be more grateful that they entered my life. Even if it was just a short Starbucks meet up, meeting Christine from MoxieFashionBlog.com and Alena from ModaPrints.com was one of the best little things to happen to me so far this year. It’s amazing to see bloggers uplifting bloggers. THIS IS NOT A COMPETITION. We are just doing what we love and there’s no shame in supporting one another. It was a beautiful thing to experience with such beautiful ladies. Christine & Alena, so happy I met you. You guys are so much fun. Check out their blogs! They are so talented and really know how make an outfit unique.

Pretty In Pilcro // Instagram Giveaway

IMG_5075 IMG_5064 IMG_5071 IMG_5077IMG_5068 IMG_5079IMG_5060When it comes to jeans, I struggle. I know we all have that in common when discovering the perfect pair of jeans. We’re all so different and unique in our own ways and we need a jean that not only fits our curves or lack of curves (in my case) but a pair of jeans that will allow our personality to shine through. A quality pair of jeans that remains comfortable, stylish and flattering. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK? Yeesh. Shopping for pants has never been my favorite until I found Pilcro, an Anthropologie exclusive. Pilcro has the highest quality denim. Pilcro pieces are refined, sophisticated and affordable. Pilcro also offers Petite which I take full advantage of considering I have the body of a 12 year old boy. I could not be more thankful for the petite options that Anthropologie offers. My favorite jean at the moment is the relaxed/boyfriend fit. They add a little tomboy to every girly outfit which creates my favorite ensemble. The newest addition to my Pilcro collection are these “Carpenter” jeans. The paint splatter creates an artistic vibe which I love. I feel like I’m capable of creating something beautiful every single time I wear them.

Here’s your chance to win your very own Pilcro jeans. Anthropologie is having an Instagram giveaway RIGHT NOW! All you have to do is Instagram your favorite Pilcro brand pants – jeans, cords, trousers or chinos- and tag it with the hashtag #PrettyInPilcro and #Anthropologie. The winning snap will receive 3 new Pilcro pairs + $500 dollars worth of clothing to go to them, while 10 runner ups will each receive a Pilcro pair of their choosing! This contest ends January 30th so get to “gramming” my friends. Good luck!

(Open to US  & Canada residents only)

All About The Skirt

IMG_4658IMG_4663 IMG_4670 IMG_4674 IMG_4675 IMG_4681There’s a lot going on here. Lot’s of warm neutral tones and little details here and there. This skirt has been fun but quite challenging to style. Challenging because it styles itself and it only looks cute with like colors. I enjoy putting my spin on things but this skirt does all the work for me. I don’t own anything like it in my closet and I think that’s what attracted me to it. The fact that it’s more flared and “poofy” people tend to shy away from it but I don’t mind the flared factor because it cinches at the waist. It’s super slimming despite the fact that it’s almost tutu-like. I wanted to keep it comfortable on the top and very put together on the bottom. If you’re going to wear a statement skirt like this, I think it’s smart to break things up a little bit. I would’ve chose black leggings to pair with this look but I think these polka dot tights are just too fun to pass up. You’ll be seeing this skirt again soon. I want to discover more and more ways to wear it.

Xoxo,

Karissa
