Evergreen

I’m forever an evergreen girl.

I always love the aroma of pine when I walk into a cozy home during Christmas time. It soothes my soul. This year we got a real tree for our very first tree together and it’s perfection. I decided to blend in with the pine by wearing my favorite dark green, blended wool dress by Sparrow while Christmas tree shopping. I purchased last years sleeveless teal version and couldn’t resist this years version. I’m not the biggest fan of wool but I’ll wear this dress forever and ever. I’ll also purchase anything with three-quarter sleeves. I was reading the reviews on this dress online and noticed a comment that this dress is amazing for curvier girls. I think what I love about the style of this dress more than anything is that it looks great on every kind of figure. It’s kind of amazing paired with my all time favorite fur collar and of, course, my UGGS.

Oh, UGGS. I call them my happy place because they’re just that…happy.

Hello everyone!

It’s so nice to be sitting here, typing (talking) to you. I don’t prioritize enough time to blog and really connect with you all. I guess that’s what happens when you get a big girl job and start making big girl money huh? Hehe. There’s not enough hours in the day or days in the week to get all of the stuff that I want done AND have a healthy sleep schedule. It’s just not possible for me. I can’t even plan a wedding let alone blog. I hope you guys understand. In the meantime, you can always stay updated and connected with me on my Instagram (@karissamariie) and Snapchat(@karissamariiee).

Let’s stay focused and get back to the beautiful blush colored top in these photos. I don’t own much pink in my closet. I honestly cannot think of ONE true pink item, however, I do love a good peach toned pink. I could rock that all day everyday. I really love the contrast of it with my dark hair. I’ve been told it works really well with my skin tone! So, I’m quite happy about that. And we all know I’m a huge fan of butterfly sleeves. So bouncy. I love it.

I’m going to sign off for now. We’re headed out the door to watch a late night movie. My favorite.

With love,

The Mustard Girl

IMG_0503 IMG_0507 IMG_0527 IMG_0501 IMG_0498 IMG_0511

I cannot take any credit for the title of this outfit post because it all goes to my brother who decided to call me “The Mustard Girl” all day long. Hi Nick. I wasn’t mad at all because I think the name is kind of cute. So here I am, with my mustard co-ordinate outfit and all, ready to tell you all about the adventures taken in this outfit in New York City.

This show stopping outfit was perfect to go bike riding around Central Park. Besides getting engaged, this was my absolute favorite part of my birthday trip. I felt like I truly belonged in the city, soaring so fast on my cute baby blue bike with my favorite people riding beside me. I didn’t want this moment to end. I was so sad when our journey around Central Park ended but that sadness didn’t last long because we went straight to 5th Avenue to do a little birthday shopping. I spent more than I intended to at Zara. I have never been inside an actual Zara store, online shopping only, so I went a little crazy in there on numerous occasions. No shame though.

SoHo Girl

IMG_0449 2 IMG_0462 IMG_0446 IMG_0454 IMG_0450 IMG_0460 IMG_0448 IMG_0433

Day 3 in Manhattan was just magical as day one and day two. Freshly engaged and ready to sight see my favorite city in the country with my fiancé. I don’t think life could get any better than this, I really really don’t. We began day three, a Monday, sleeping in from the crazy night before where we celebrated our engagement with drinks and seafood. We went to see the 9/11 Memorial which was a sight I had yet to see. The museum was moving and powerful. I left feeling so lucky to be alive but so saddened that so many people couldn’t live to see today. If you’re visiting anytime soon, I really recommend stopping by. Afterwords I ate one of the best hot dogs at a food stand and strawberry, mango, and banana smoothie.

We headed towards SoHo, the love of my life, to continue shopping and soaking in the NYC vibes. Little Italy was where I fell in love with a little Japanese owned crepe shop. I have no idea how or when I stumbled upon this little hole in the wall but it became my addiction for the next few days. I even became friends with the girl that worked there. Oh, how I wish I could put that yummy crepe shop in my back pocket and take it with me wherever I go. SO GOOD!

After a long, long day of shopping and walking around Soho, we stopped at “The Soho Park” to grab a bite to eat. It was there I had my first ever cosmopolitan. It was a lot more stout than what I had imagined but delicious nonetheless. I was hating how fast my trip was going. I wanted the world to stop in it’s tracks so that I could enjoy the city that I love just a little bit longer. But it was inevitable, the night ended and it was time for bed only to wake to another glorious morning in Manhattan and another jam-packed day of excitement.

Modern Day Snow White

IMG_5251IMG_5268IMG_5243IMG_5249IMG_5266 IMG_5250IMG_5244

“Lips as red as the rose. Hair as black as ebony. Skin white as snow.”

If only, if only I could actually be a Disney character. I mean don’t we all wish that? We all want a happy ending and an apple that won’t kill us. I’ve always wondered why I didn’t get my mom’s golden, bronze, Hispanic skin. A long time ago it used to bug me that I didn’t get those Latina genes but I’ve accepted it. I’ve grown to love my porcelain skin and dark hair. I’m my very own Snow White. Since I cut my hair, I see the resemblance more and more. The irony of all this is that I hate the snow but I do love wearing white. White on white or even creamy whites is one of my favorite “go to” chic outfits. Celebrities do it all the time because it’s timeless just like the Disney princess in the book. I don’t think this trend will ever go out of style and neither will Snow White. Since starting my blog, I’ve learned to appreciate timeless looks. Simplicity is a something that I appreciate more and more with time but I will never let go of my bold factor. Ever. As of now, I’ve let go of the crazy prints and patterns. I still love color and prints but in moderation and in the right way. I’ve been stocking up my closet with pieces with will grow with me as I age. I’m done buying immature clothing if that makes any sense. Building your wardrobe this way will ensure that  you won’t have any regrets in 5, 10, 20 years on your wardrobe choices. It prevents those trips to the consignment shop as well. I will never get sick of styling this camel colored blazer, fleece pullover, and dot skirt. My favorite timeless pieces in one clean, feminine outfit. I only hope Snow White approves.

I ordered this skirt in a 0P at first but ended up with a 00P. Either Anthropologie’s clothes are getting bigger or I’m losing weight. Both are very likely.

Xoxo,
