50 Shades of Blue

IMG_6915IMG_6941 IMG_6920IMG_6937 IMG_6925 IMG_6942IMG_6931If you thought this post had anything to do with the movie “50 Shades of Grey” you can go ahead and click the x at the top right of your screen and get the heck out of here because no sir, no thank you. I will not be “submitted” into that kind of behavior. (Ha. I’m so clever.) No chains or whips could hold me back from wearing an all denim outfit. I’m having so much pun. Okay, I’ll stop. Back to the outfit: I wear denim on denim time and time again because I don’t think this trend ever goes of style. I didn’t want to go overboard on denim today so I threw on my all time favorite sweater to mute out the bursts of blue that’s happening in these shots. The beauty of an all denim look is that you don’t have to stress one bit about what color of lipstick to wear. You could wear a bright yellow lipstick and it would still look good. I chose red because I’m on a red lip kick right now. Keeping it classic is always a good, safe choice. I kept this look casual with converse shoes but had to fancy-it-up a little with a touch of gold aka my purse soulmate.

I have to give you a warning, so here’s my warning: Be prepared to see a whole lot of denim and menswear pieces in the next few months. I don’t know what it is but when my mind is set on something I really go over board with it and buy it all. I’ve been buying nothing but button ups, collared tops, stripes, high waited trousers, denim tops, chambray, etc., the whole sha-bang. It’s gonna be my Spring wardrobe for sure and I’m not gonna apologize for it. I’ll always and forever be a huge fan of menswear. No matter what, it seems like I always have to add a touch of manliness to an outfit. Oh, the contraction. I love it.

So if you’re looking to step out into the world of fashion and are ready to take risks, menswear is the best start ladies! You don’t necessarily have to give up your lipstick (In fact, I encourage you still rock a bold lip) or your tutu skirts. Just slowly start adding these boyish pieces into your wardrobe and daily outfits. Slow and steady wins the race. I swear you will love the never-ending menswear trend, not as much as me of course, but you’ll love it enough to feel comfortable in your own skin while also being on-trend. That’s all for now folks. See you soon.

All About My Bag

IMG_6830IMG_6898IMG_6886 IMG_6829IMG_6901 IMG_6840

My handbag story:

I’m not a handbag kind of girl. I prefer to invest in some great shoes. I’m more than positive that all the cross-bodies, satchels, shoulder bags and clutches that I own are all under $25 dollars. I’ve never been one to really care about my purse because it’s where my piles and piles of hoarded receipts go and where little crumbs of chocolate are left behind. I treat my purses kind of horrible to be honest. They’re thrown all over the place so what’s the point in spending a trillion on them? Everyone on YouTube and even a few bloggers think the opposite. They’re all rockin’ their Prada and Givenchy handbags and I’m over here rolling my eyes at them. I never thought the day would come that I would actually spend more than 50 dollars on a purse but that day did come and I couldn’t not be more satisfied.

For those that know me know that this gold Liebeskind purse was MADE FOR ME! I’m pretty sure the handbag God from handbag heaven knew that I needed some sparkle in my life so he sent down this stunning thing. We should name him (or her). Ya? I’m open to suggestions. Comment below. I think I needed to do an entire blog post on this new little beauty of mine to justify the amount that I spent on it AND to show off how fancy it looks. Again, it wasn’t no price of any Prada out there but it was spend-y for just a small cross-body. I knew it was the one the second I laid my eyes on it. There was no turning back, I needed this golden goddess in my life.

Here’s my purse personality (we all have one): 1) I’m constantly on the go. 2) I lose track of everything: my phone, wallet, I.D, etc. on a daily basis 3) I love me some gold accents. So with that being said, the cross-body style is meant for a girl like me. I own more cross-body styles than I should but they fit my personality and lifestyle to the T. The bright gold color of this bag upgrades any and all of my outfits. I can now where an all black look and not feel so blah and boring. I’d like to thank Liebeskind for making this golden queen (or king) because I have finally found my purse soulmate. Wahoo.

Lounging Around

IMG_6775IMG_6792IMG_6801 IMG_6776 IMG_6793 In my previous post, we talked about work attire and rocking your 9 to 5 job while looking fabulous and put together while doing it. In this post, lets just completely forget everything that I said about looking put together. Just disregard it all because non of that matters on days where nothing really matters. (Does that make any sense?)

On those lounge around days…days where we have no appointments, no meetings, no obligations; My biggest priorities when it comes to my outfit are: Do I care if I get chocolate or hot fries stains on it? Will it still be comfortable enough when I decide to take a nap in the middle of the day? Will it be stable enough for movies, junk food, and eating out at SmashBurger? These are the questions that run though my mind when I’m deciding on what to wear  on my oh so fabulous lazy days. The bigger and baggier the better.

I crack myself up because in the end, I still choose heels. No matter what, heels win almost every single time. We have this rule at work that we can basically wear whatever we want but we always have to have at least one piece in our look that elevates the entire look. For example, I wouldn’t have been able to wear this outfit with sneakers but with heels it’s totally acceptable, approachable, and remains little fabulous. I’ve been loving my creams and grays this season. I think the two colors combined create a very chic and minimal look which is very on trend right now. Go shop my look below!

Quirky Prints & Tulle

IMG_5305 IMG_5329IMG_5306 IMG_5308IMG_5326 IMG_5312 “Quirky” is a word that I find myself using almost every single day. Weirdly enough, I don’t believe I’ve ever typed that word into a blog post. Well, there’s a first for everything. This pug printed top is the definition of quirky. It’s odd. It’s unconventional and that’s exactly what I’m about. Not to mention the fact that it’s mustard yellow: my all time favorite color. I get stares from a million miles away when I wear this top. I don’t blame them because it really is unexpected. That’s what I love about Anthropologie. I can always count on the designers to make me feel unique. Being out of place sometimes isn’t a bad thing. What do I always say about stepping our of your comfort zone? It will surprise you to find that, yes, you can rock that weird dog printed shirt, and yes, you can take on the world as well. I went overboard (like I normally do) and layered a striped turtleneck underneath. I would have left it there and just threw on some skinny jeans but no, that’s not how I roll. I threw on this eye-catching tulle skirt (as if the top wasn’t bizarre enough) and my outfit was complete. Sticking to the basic black and white and adding a pop of color will never do you wrong. For some strange reason the chaos works. You should try it sometime.

Basic & Minimal

IMG_4840 IMG_4842 IMG_4848 IMG_4851 IMG_4854 IMG_4868 IMG_4874Hair up. Skinny jeans on. I guess I can throw on some heels to give the illusion that I’m trying. Simple and minimal was the look I was striving for because some days I just cannot be bothered. Pulling the hair back and throwing on some basic sleek clothes can be so refreshing. No patterns or prints fogging up my brain. No difficulties with the curling iron. Just an all black outfit with a boyfriend blazer to keep me looking and feeling calm and collected. There was something about this outfit that took me back to Kim Kardashian circa 2010. Before she became a “West.” The days when all she wore were blazers and jeans with hair pinned back into a sleek bun. She had things to do and an empire to build. I bet she couldn’t be bothered with all the hoopla either. Look at her now, no more business attire. Now that she’s reached a level of fame that no one can top, she wears Givenchy to bed. Must be nice. In a way, I’m building my own little empire. Not the same extravagant level like Kim but still a dream nonetheless. I strive every single day to do something for my future. I take a step out of my comfort zone all the time. When I’m not working I’m educating my brain on all things fashion. I still have so much to learn. No, I will never be famous like Kim but someday I WILL go to bed with a full heart and with the feeling of success, just like her. I have a love/hate relationship with the Kardashian fam bam. I think we all do. No matter the drama, they are a family to look up to based on the simple fact that they built an empire so incredible out of nothing.
