Striped & High Waisted

IMG_7252 IMG_7264 IMG_7272 IMG_7290IMG_7260IMG_7263 IMG_7296_Fotor_CollageIMG_7273Will there ever come a day that I’m not on the hunt for menswear pieces? No. Never.

Menswear. You’ve heard this word before. It’s my all time favorite trend. You’ve also heard that before. Be prepared to see more menswear inspired outfit posts on my page. (Like you haven’t seen enough.) Menswear takes everything to the next level. It’s sleek. It’s sharp. I feel so powerful and trendy in menswear. I don’t have to show off a bunch of skin to turn heads. Nope. These trousers and my Urban Outfitters button up did plenty of that. I just love the contradiction of wearing bright orange red lipstick and curly hair with such a serious outfit. I’m having fun. That’s what it’s all about. Okay, I cannot get enough of these ZARA high waisted pants. I could live in them for the rest of my life. It’s such a good feeling investing in something with top notch material. Unlike most bow tie pants that are out there right now, these ones were made to last forever. They’re thick without being too heavy. They’re soft without being too cheap. They’re comfortable without looking like sweats. They are simply perfect. The olive green color caught my eye, not because it may resemble puke, but because it’s such a statement color without being too “in your face.” A very subtle statement piece and I’m all about that. Believe it or not but this shade of olive green can be paired with more than a handful of other colors. It’s like jeans…but better. What I love about high waisted trousers is that you can pretty much pair whatever you want with them: Button ups, crop tops, sweaters, long sleeves, turtlenecks. The list is endless… and so is my love for this outfit. So there.

All Wrapped Up

IMG_7167IMG_7144IMG_7168 IMG_7156 IMG_7164IMG_7171 IMG_7166IMG_7173I’m not a fan of coats. They’re heavy, they’re bulky and they simply ruin my outfits. To stay warm and chic in chilly Colorado I have to get a little creative. I stay cozy by layering up, wearing my oversized blazers or rocking my leather jacket but sometimes those things get a little old and boring. My new favorite alternative to staying warm is getting all wrapped up in an oversized scarf. We might as well call this thing a fashion blanket. It’s very large in size but oh so comfortable to cuddle in all day. Who knew that walking around with a “blanket” attached to you would be socially acceptable. Don’t be intimidated by the oversized look. It’s the latest, and my personal favorite trend. You might was well embrace this relaxed look while it lasts. Who doesn’t love throwing something on, synching it with a belt and adding some boyfriend jeans. It’s like a dream come true to me. Exploring your city in a bright, statement scarf makes the taxi drives, crowds of people, and loud cars a little more enjoyable and do I dare to say…chic. I felt like such a city girl in this outfit and the backdrop took me back to strolls in Soho, Manhattan with my mom. We had the best time waking up unbelievably early to get the best seat at the local cafe and afterwards we did some major damage in DASH. Can I just pretend for a second that I live there? Ok, daydream over. But seriously, I so belong there. The city backdrop was made for me. Someday. Until then, the Denver scene will do.

In my box I received a whole a lot of love but as for the clothing I got this white skirt with black horizontal lines that looks fabulous with an all black outfit. In addition to that I received a pink dress with grey sleeves and a silky smooth top. I love how “out of the box” all my pieces are and I can’t wait to style them uniquely.

We Never Go Out Of Style// 6 Years <3

Every time he cries, I cry. Even if we fail, we fail together. I’m more than positive that I am luckiest girl in the world because of him. Wyatt has seen me crumble to the absolute worst version of myself. He’s stood there with me through the deaths of my two best friends. He wiped every tear of mine through every stage of depression. He has calmed my overactive nerves when no one else could. He has no doubt seen me at my worst but more importantly he’s never judged me. He has never given up on me. He has never once walked away. Even when I’ve lived in the dark he somehow manages to see beauty in me. I can’t put into words what this man means to me. I’ve known him since he was just a curly headed chubby little boy with braces. I’ve had the privileged to grow up with him. Now I get to love him as the man that he is. It’s weird saying that because up until now I’ve only known him to be a kid. Because we were just kids, age 14, when we fell in love. I’ve known him as a baseball player, football player, Tire Tech, Personal Trainer, Realtor, and now, Store Manager. He’s worn many hats and has many titles but my favorite one of all is the guy that I get to come home to: My Best Friend.

We don’t have gray hair yet but I look forward to growing old with him. We are in no rush to get married, for those of you that ask us on a daily basis. We’re choosing to enjoy life and each other as we are. Marriage is in our future, trust me, but we love who we are right now, right this second. Whenever we get bored of that then maybe we’ll get married. But until then we will continue to love each other unconditionally, dance in public, kiss until one of us has to pee and watch Netflix in our jammies all day.

Happy 6th Anniversary to the person that I can’t live without and also to the person that irritates me the most. I love you Wyatt. Thank you for loving me like you do.

I’m so lucky.

With love,

50 Shades of Blue

IMG_6915IMG_6941 IMG_6920IMG_6937 IMG_6925 IMG_6942IMG_6931If you thought this post had anything to do with the movie “50 Shades of Grey” you can go ahead and click the x at the top right of your screen and get the heck out of here because no sir, no thank you. I will not be “submitted” into that kind of behavior. (Ha. I’m so clever.) No chains or whips could hold me back from wearing an all denim outfit. I’m having so much pun. Okay, I’ll stop. Back to the outfit: I wear denim on denim time and time again because I don’t think this trend ever goes of style. I didn’t want to go overboard on denim today so I threw on my all time favorite sweater to mute out the bursts of blue that’s happening in these shots. The beauty of an all denim look is that you don’t have to stress one bit about what color of lipstick to wear. You could wear a bright yellow lipstick and it would still look good. I chose red because I’m on a red lip kick right now. Keeping it classic is always a good, safe choice. I kept this look casual with converse shoes but had to fancy-it-up a little with a touch of gold aka my purse soulmate.

I have to give you a warning, so here’s my warning: Be prepared to see a whole lot of denim and menswear pieces in the next few months. I don’t know what it is but when my mind is set on something I really go over board with it and buy it all. I’ve been buying nothing but button ups, collared tops, stripes, high waited trousers, denim tops, chambray, etc., the whole sha-bang. It’s gonna be my Spring wardrobe for sure and I’m not gonna apologize for it. I’ll always and forever be a huge fan of menswear. No matter what, it seems like I always have to add a touch of manliness to an outfit. Oh, the contraction. I love it.

So if you’re looking to step out into the world of fashion and are ready to take risks, menswear is the best start ladies! You don’t necessarily have to give up your lipstick (In fact, I encourage you still rock a bold lip) or your tutu skirts. Just slowly start adding these boyish pieces into your wardrobe and daily outfits. Slow and steady wins the race. I swear you will love the never-ending menswear trend, not as much as me of course, but you’ll love it enough to feel comfortable in your own skin while also being on-trend. That’s all for now folks. See you soon.
