Girls With Red Lipstick

IMG_6405 IMG_6395IMG_6348 IMG_6327 IMG_6367IMG_6397 IMG_6362 IMG_6306IMG_6392 IMG_6320 IMG_6357I’m so lucky to have a friend that’s willing to dress up with me and take photos for nearly two hours while 100 strangers just stop and stare at us. (Creeps.) Alena and I had such a blast doing this Valentine’s Day inspired shoot. We dressed up in our love inspired clothes and cheesed it up for the camera. (Like we do best.) I felt like we hopped on a time traveling machine and walked on the “GREASE” movie set. “Tell me about it, stud.” I love that movie. Check out Alena’s Blog…HERE. By the way, Alena has influenced me to mix prints more often and I have influenced her to shop more at Anthropologie! Oh Ya! That’s friend #3 that I’ve got addicted to Anthro. I should be getting some commission for this.

It was more than tempting to stop between shots and eat all the ice-cream that was at this ice-cream bar where we were shooting but we had a job to do. Afterwards, we all went and stuffed our faces with greasy hamburgers. No wonder models are always hungry… It’s a tough job. I was in my comfort zone with this fun heart printed skirt, my turtleneck, and my favorite chic leather jacket. Oh, and my converse of course because what else would I be wearing in Downtown Denver? (JK. I wore heels that day too. Hehe.) I will be an outfit repeater and wear this ensemble on Valentine’s Day while out and about with my Valentine. I normally don’t repeat outfits but hey, sometimes you have to make exceptions in this life. This skirt only has a lifespan of February 10-February 14 every single year so I might as well give it the love and attention it deserves until I have to part ways and meet again next year around Valentines Day.

Oh ya… HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! May your day be filled with not only love but also lots and lots of chocolate.

With love,

Modern & Modest Feat. Dainty Jewell’s

IMG_6233IMG_6206 IMG_6219IMG_6279 IMG_6220 IMG_6214IMG_6260IMG_6221IMG_6209 IMG_6231 IMG_6244 IMG_6274Hello There!

I couldn’t choose just a few pictures for this post. There’s a WHOPPING 12 photos because this dress deserves that much. I really can’t explain the feeling I got in my stomach when I first put this dress by Dainty Jewell’s on. I guess some would call it “butterflies.” This fabulous number is for those girls that don’t mind taking risks, for the ones that find complete joy in leopard prints, and especially for those showstoppers out there. You know who you are. The print and shape is bold yet timeless. This stunning piece is more than capable to be worn at any age. I picture myself wearing this for the rest of my life not only because of the timeless factor but the extravagant material is top notch, trust me. The Peter Pan neckline is what made this dress in my opinion. I think this small detail transforms the dress from blah to bang. All of the dresses from Dainty Jewell’s are the epitome of modern and modest. They’re clothes are classy yet stylish. I appreciate a company that doesn’t have to show a lot of skin to sell their clothes. It’s so rare to find modesty these days. You go DJ! (That’s Dainty Jewell’s, for those that don’t understand my slang.)

More about Dainty Jewell’s- “Dainty Jewell’s originally began as a creative outlet for sixteenyearold Charity Jewell. As a young woman intent on living a godly life, she desired to dress not only modestly but in a way that was classy and fashionable. Charity eventually began designing items to sell to other women with similar values and beliefs. She first began by simply upcycling tops, skirts, and dresses by adding embellishments; these bows, ruffles, and attention to dainty details on these garments was the start of a signature line that continues to the present in all of Dainty Jewell’s original designs. Throughout the last few years, Dainty Jewell’s has expanded not only as a modest clothing company but as a ministry for women all across the world who desire to present themselves as intentional ladies.” …More about their story on their dot com HERE.

Quirky Prints & Tulle

IMG_5305 IMG_5329IMG_5306 IMG_5308IMG_5326 IMG_5312 “Quirky” is a word that I find myself using almost every single day. Weirdly enough, I don’t believe I’ve ever typed that word into a blog post. Well, there’s a first for everything. This pug printed top is the definition of quirky. It’s odd. It’s unconventional and that’s exactly what I’m about. Not to mention the fact that it’s mustard yellow: my all time favorite color. I get stares from a million miles away when I wear this top. I don’t blame them because it really is unexpected. That’s what I love about Anthropologie. I can always count on the designers to make me feel unique. Being out of place sometimes isn’t a bad thing. What do I always say about stepping our of your comfort zone? It will surprise you to find that, yes, you can rock that weird dog printed shirt, and yes, you can take on the world as well. I went overboard (like I normally do) and layered a striped turtleneck underneath. I would have left it there and just threw on some skinny jeans but no, that’s not how I roll. I threw on this eye-catching tulle skirt (as if the top wasn’t bizarre enough) and my outfit was complete. Sticking to the basic black and white and adding a pop of color will never do you wrong. For some strange reason the chaos works. You should try it sometime.

A Romantic Look

IMG_4689IMG_4709 IMG_4694 IMG_4697 IMG_4705IMG_4707 IMG_4706 January was an incredible, record setting month for Karissamarieblog.com. Definitely the best month so far based on number of views each day and new subscribers. Not to toot my own horn or anything but we also just hit 8K on Instagram. We’re goin’ places people. We’re doing big things. Thank you all who take the time out of their day to read my little itty bitty posts. You might not know it but you make my day every single time you do. Thank you. I hope, in return, you get inspired after you’re done scrolling through my page. This month I plan to top January. I think we can do it based on the fact that I reach more and more of you every single day. You guys are doing a fabulous job sharing my page with your buddies, please continue to do that. I’m feeling very blessed that I have enough time and drive to post every other day. I hope I can continue do that as long as my schedule and creativity capacity allows it. One more time, thank you. 2015 is off to an incredible start. Yay us.

I wanted to start February with a romantic look. It is the month of love isn’t it? In almost every post leading up to Valentines Day I plan to give you inspiration on what to wear on the big special love bird day. Here’s romantic look #1. I don’t mean romantic as in sexy. Obviously, I’m covered head to toe. I mean romantic as in mysterious and glamourous. (Which is sexy enough to me.) This outfit has no rhyme or reason. I didn’t do much planning. It was one of those “go with the flow” kind of days. The cowled neckline sweater felt a little large around the waist so I decided to belt it. Cinching it in created a flattering hourglass shape which I believe created the “romance” factor. I elevated the look with some red lips, a top knot, and some statement tights. This look took me back to France. I would go back in a heart beat. All my girlfriends and I ate were banana & Nutella crepes. HEAVEN. Oh, how I wish my outfits could take me back to the places that inspired them in the first place.

The more exciting news is that this sweater has pockets…POCKETS!

The Thing About Fashion Bloggers…

IMG_5174IMG_5180IMG_5188IMG_5181 IMG_5176 IMG_5183 IMG_5185 IMG_5189Creating a title for this outfit post was nearly impossible. I feel like I incorporated so many of my personalities within one single outfit. It’s girly, comfortable, warm, chic, athletic, tomboy, minimal, artistic, and just…me. That’s the thing about fashion bloggers or just fashion lovers in general…we’re a little bit of everything. We don’t stay in one little tiny box. We step out of our comfort zone every single day. We love everything and anything. Fashion is all about being open to the possibilities. It’s about making a girly outfit more tomboy. It’s about throwing on some sneakers when you’re wearing a $1oo fleece sweater. It’s about taking your favorite boyfriend jeans and pairing them with your favorite lipstick. If you can’t tell already, I really enjoy outfits that have a little contradiction within them. Fashion lovers love taking risks. We’re always trying to find new ways to make an outfit more “us” and more unique. We’re innovators. Walking out the door with just a t-shirt and jeans is not a simple task. We’re always searching for our lipstick, our clutch, our heels and our magazine for the road. We’re constantly looking for new ways to reinvent ourselves and our wardrobe. I love fashion. I love who I am since it entered into my life.

Another great thing about fashion is that sometimes outfits bring out the best in you and they take you to some amazing places to meet some amazing people. I met two lovely fashion bloggers in this outfit and I could not be more grateful that they entered my life. Even if it was just a short Starbucks meet up, meeting Christine from MoxieFashionBlog.com and Alena from ModaPrints.com was one of the best little things to happen to me so far this year. It’s amazing to see bloggers uplifting bloggers. THIS IS NOT A COMPETITION. We are just doing what we love and there’s no shame in supporting one another. It was a beautiful thing to experience with such beautiful ladies. Christine & Alena, so happy I met you. You guys are so much fun. Check out their blogs! They are so talented and really know how make an outfit unique.

With love,
