IKEA Date + OOTD

Wyatt and I like to take strolls around IKEA. Weird? We don’t care. We thoroughly enjoy sitting inside a display room and pretending that we’re at home. (Have you seen the movie, “500 days of Summer?”) It’s so fun planning out what our future house together is going to look like. We don’t really agree on anything but we have a good time regardless. Our IKEA date consists of laughs, good conversation, inspiration and carts that do not cooperate. I really wouldn’t want to walk hand in hand with anyone else in this big intimidating place. Doing life with him is really my favorite thing to do. Who knew that we would go from “high school football game” dates to “shopping for furniture” kind of dates. Growing up with him has been a blessing. We walk into the new stages of ours lives together with open arms. I really can’t wait to see what our next kind of date will be.

My outfit: I went with a preppy kind of look. I never embrace this side of me very often but sometimes it’s fun to experiment. On this day Denver was a complete blizzard. I stayed warm with this chunky cable knit sweater, thick flared skirt, and super cozy quirky tights. I’m not entirely sure if the print on my tights are dogs or cats but it’s still cute to look at, isn’t it? I’ve been having so much fun with my outfits lately. Winter time is really the perfect time to throw on anything and everything. The more layers and chaos the better. I’m loving it.

All About The Skirt

There’s a lot going on here. Lot’s of warm neutral tones and little details here and there. This skirt has been fun but quite challenging to style. Challenging because it styles itself and it only looks cute with like colors. I enjoy putting my spin on things but this skirt does all the work for me. I don’t own anything like it in my closet and I think that’s what attracted me to it. The fact that it’s more flared and “poofy” people tend to shy away from it but I don’t mind the flared factor because it cinches at the waist. It’s super slimming despite the fact that it’s almost tutu-like. I wanted to keep it comfortable on the top and very put together on the bottom. If you’re going to wear a statement skirt like this, I think it’s smart to break things up a little bit. I would’ve chose black leggings to pair with this look but I think these polka dot tights are just too fun to pass up. You’ll be seeing this skirt again soon. I want to discover more and more ways to wear it.

Button Up.

I do not understand my obsession with moss colored tops. It’s out of control at the moment. It’s just like black or white, it goes with absolutely everything. Weird, but I think it’s such a classy winter color. The unique, almost suede-like, material has me feeling some sort of way. It’s so comfortable and it’s the perfect layering piece. I love pairing turtlenecks with absolutely everything lately, it allows me to keep some of my short sleeve tops for a little while longer. I’ve also had this weird obsession with red lipstick. I still have my trusty dark maroon lipstick in my purse at all times but lately I’ve been reaching for this deep red lip. I’m so festive aren’t I?

By the way, I have a good reason as to why I haven’t been blogging as much. I’ve been moving, traveling and working. Busy busy busy. I can’t wait until I’m finally settled into my new place because I have some fun things planned that may be coming soon. Stay tuned for that. Thanks for all your love and support. I’ve missed you all right back!

Warm & Cozy Outfit

Hello Friends.

For a smooth Monday all you need are these few simple items. Turtleneck. Jeans. Booties and a poncho. Back to basics is key to surviving the beginning of the week. It’s hard enough getting out of bed in the morning so don’t make it even harder on yourself when choosing your outfit. Every outfit has to have some sort of statement piece. The statement piece in this number is this lovely poncho. I know a lot of people shy away from the loose/baggy tops but I embrace it girlfriend. It’s always relaxing to be relaxed. I don’t have to worry about any not so flattering angles poking through my shirt after lunchtime because we all know it happens. Slim tight shirts are great but not for a Monday. Be free and wear a poncho. It kept me oh so warm and comfortable, not to mention the color is absolutely gorgeous.

What Does The Fox Say?

I’m completely obsessed with these fox printed tights. They stole the show! They kept me warm and comfortable the entire day. I wish Anthropologie would make more fun printed tights because I would wear them every single day. Too fun! Wearing printed tights makes outfit planning a little bit easier to be honest. All the attention is on the tights so pairing them with simpler pieces is the best way to go. I went with a black shift dress, heeled booties, and a camel colored blazer to top it all off. This outfit has definitely been one of my favorite and easiest outfits this fall. I love the last picture in this post. Our friend Christian behind the camera is always making Wyatt and I laugh.
