Pretty In Pilcro // Instagram Giveaway

IMG_5075 IMG_5064 IMG_5071 IMG_5077IMG_5068 IMG_5079IMG_5060When it comes to jeans, I struggle. I know we all have that in common when discovering the perfect pair of jeans. We’re all so different and unique in our own ways and we need a jean that not only fits our curves or lack of curves (in my case) but a pair of jeans that will allow our personality to shine through. A quality pair of jeans that remains comfortable, stylish and flattering. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK? Yeesh. Shopping for pants has never been my favorite until I found Pilcro, an Anthropologie exclusive. Pilcro has the highest quality denim. Pilcro pieces are refined, sophisticated and affordable. Pilcro also offers Petite which I take full advantage of considering I have the body of a 12 year old boy. I could not be more thankful for the petite options that Anthropologie offers. My favorite jean at the moment is the relaxed/boyfriend fit. They add a little tomboy to every girly outfit which creates my favorite ensemble. The newest addition to my Pilcro collection are these “Carpenter” jeans. The paint splatter creates an artistic vibe which I love. I feel like I’m capable of creating something beautiful every single time I wear them.

Here’s your chance to win your very own Pilcro jeans. Anthropologie is having an Instagram giveaway RIGHT NOW! All you have to do is Instagram your favorite Pilcro brand pants – jeans, cords, trousers or chinos- and tag it with the hashtag #PrettyInPilcro and #Anthropologie. The winning snap will receive 3 new Pilcro pairs + $500 dollars worth of clothing to go to them, while 10 runner ups will each receive a Pilcro pair of their choosing! This contest ends January 30th so get to “gramming” my friends. Good luck!

(Open to US  & Canada residents only)

My Favorite 2014 Trend

IMG_4358IMG_4365IMG_4369 IMG_4362 IMG_4364 IMG_4368IMG_4366Can you believe that clothing stores are already prepping for Spring 2015 trends? It’s unbelievable how time just flies. I want to hop off this train because it’s just going way too fast. I know every single season has something new to bring to the table when it comes to the fashion world. Some designer somewhere in the world comes up with this brilliant trend that every single person and their mother rocks for the rest of the year. Spring time has become one of my favorite times of the year not only because of that but because of the gorgeous colors that surrounds it. Spring is the time for new beginnings. It’s the time of growth, prosperity, and pastel colors. I know pastel was a huge hit last year but I really do believe that these mash of colors never really go out of style. Heck, I rock them all year long. All you have to do is add some leggings and boots and you’re set for fall, girlfriend.

I know you’ve seen this little “skirt” before in one of my older posts. Shocking, but it’s actually a dress. I’ve only worn it layered like this because I think its so fun to overlap sweaters with dresses. Also, for the simple fact that it’s only January and I need to cover up. Combining sweaters and dresses was totally a 2014 trend for me. I’ve inspired a few of my friends and co-coworkers and they admit to me that doing this has totally reinvented their wardrobe. Look at all the possibilities ahead of you now! I dare you to try this little trend yourself!

IKEA Date + OOTD

IMG_4151IMG_4199 IMG_4155 IMG_4156 IMG_4157 IMG_4176 IMG_4187 IMG_4189 IMG_4193 IMG_4194 IMG_4197Wyatt and I like to take strolls around IKEA. Weird? We don’t care. We thoroughly enjoy sitting inside a display room and pretending that we’re at home. (Have you seen the movie, “500 days of Summer?”) It’s so fun planning out what our future house together is going to look like. We don’t really agree on anything but we have a good time regardless. Our IKEA date consists of laughs, good conversation, inspiration and carts that do not cooperate. I really wouldn’t want to walk hand in hand with anyone else in this big intimidating place. Doing life with him is really my favorite thing to do. Who knew that we would go from “high school football game” dates to “shopping for furniture” kind of dates. Growing up with him has been a blessing. We walk into the new stages of ours lives together with open arms. I really can’t wait to see what our next kind of date will be.

My outfit: I went with a preppy kind of look. I never embrace this side of me very often but sometimes it’s fun to experiment. On this day Denver was a complete blizzard. I stayed warm with this chunky cable knit sweater, thick flared skirt, and super cozy quirky tights. I’m not entirely sure if the print on my tights are dogs or cats but it’s still cute to look at, isn’t it? I’ve been having so much fun with my outfits lately. Winter time is really the perfect time to throw on anything and everything. The more layers and chaos the better. I’m loving it.

P.s. So sorry if there’s punctuation mistakes. I don’t think I’ll remember typing this blog post by tomorrow morning. I am so tired but I refuse to go to bed. I’ve never been this delusional before. I might actually be losing my mind…just kidding. Maybe. Ok fingers, you can stop typing now. GO TO BED KARISSA! #insomniac

A Dress & Scarf In One

IMG_4416IMG_4461 IMG_4428IMG_4451 IMG_4429 IMG_4442 I absolutely love this swing dress. My obsession over cowled shaped necklines has gotten a little out of control. I think this particular detail is the epitome of what winter fashion is. It’s like a dress and scarf in one, so convenient right? The dark maroon detailing on the bottom and inside the pockets keeps things a little more interesting and feminine. You all should know by now that I am absolutely obsessed with shift shaped dresses. Some of you may think that I look like a tent but totally disagree. No bonfires or smores over here, girlfriend! Just a fun, statement, flowy dress that never goes out of style. Shift dresses are the easiest and most fashionable pieces that you will own in your closet. Heck! I haven’t worn a slim bodycon dress in years. I have to admit that this dress is oh so beautiful to look at but not so comfortable to wear. You can always count on me to be honest on here. (Ew, who likes liars.) And if I’m being honest, the fact that there’s wool in it, I couldn’t help but cringe inside a little. I dress up day in and day out but if I’m not 100% comfortable I WILL NOT WEAR IT. I might actually be allergic to wool. Is that a thing? Can people be allergic to wool? So it broke my itty bitty heart to return this beautiful thing back to Anthropologie but if I’m going to pay that kind of money, I might as well enjoy wearing it and be comfy, right? Just wanted warn any of you that were thinking about buying it. If wool doesn’t bother you, I’m jealous. Truly jealous. I’ve learned my lesson. Wool, stay far far far away from me.

All About The Skirt

IMG_4658IMG_4663 IMG_4670 IMG_4674 IMG_4675 IMG_4681There’s a lot going on here. Lot’s of warm neutral tones and little details here and there. This skirt has been fun but quite challenging to style. Challenging because it styles itself and it only looks cute with like colors. I enjoy putting my spin on things but this skirt does all the work for me. I don’t own anything like it in my closet and I think that’s what attracted me to it. The fact that it’s more flared and “poofy” people tend to shy away from it but I don’t mind the flared factor because it cinches at the waist. It’s super slimming despite the fact that it’s almost tutu-like. I wanted to keep it comfortable on the top and very put together on the bottom. If you’re going to wear a statement skirt like this, I think it’s smart to break things up a little bit. I would’ve chose black leggings to pair with this look but I think these polka dot tights are just too fun to pass up. You’ll be seeing this skirt again soon. I want to discover more and more ways to wear it.

Karissa
