Birthday Outfit in Manhattan

IMG_0289 IMG_0226 IMG_0236 IMG_0207 IMG_0170 IMG_0200 IMG_0210 IMG_0192

My birthday dress HAD to be just as spectacular as my birthday. So, without question, I chose this bright orange/red swing dress to wear on my special day. It’s lightweight material and design had me feeling like a movie star all day long whilst still being comfortable on those sticky subways and humid streets. This dress did all sorts of memorable things starting with mass at St. Patricks Cathedral, a walk in Central Park, brunch in the perfect hole in the wall restaurant with the best vodka pasta and mimosa’s ever and last but not least, shopping on 5th avenue.

I had the best 21st birthday. It started at midnight at Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square with my first legal drink being a delicious daiquiri and surrounded by a bunch of chill, cool people singing me Happy Birthday. Our waitress went over and beyond for me to feel special in those first moments of being 21. We didn’t end up back in our hotel until 3am or so and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. It feels so satisfying being twenty-one. Finally, right?

These photos were taken right after a beautiful mass (The mass was about marriage. How funny! I got engaged that night.) outside of St. Patricks Cathedral. We went on to eat the best pasta and pizza  on this planet and afterwards walked it off at Central Park where I spotted the most beautiful bride (all the signs were there.) I did a little damage inside Anthropologie and Zara and it was already time to get ready for our cruise that took us around the city. A New York minute is no joke.

And the rest is history…

Culottes & Deleting My Blog

IMG_9977 IMG_9962 IMG_9979 IMG_9976 IMG_9967I’ve broken up with jeans and found a new love: Culottes. I love the fact that they are so trendy and fun but more importantly how comfortable and freeing they are. No matter how dressed up I get there’s always one thing that remains important to me and that’s being comfortable in my clothing. There’s nothing I love more than looking fancy and feeling great. Zara has been my one stop shop for  all of those things. From business, to everyday, to glam, this store has it all to make a girl feel amazing. They also have mens and kids clothing which is even better. My entire outfit is from Zara. Since I’ve rocked Zara so much over the years, I’ve gotten so many people addicted to it. You’re welcome by the way.

I’ve have been s-t-r-u-g-g-l-i-n-g with typing up these blog posts. Heck, taking the pictures has been the most frustrating part of all. I’m not like most fashion bloggers who their entire job is blogging. Nope not me girlfriend. I have a full time job and responsibilities and don’t have the time or energy like I used to. I guess it’s all part of growing up. Today, for the very first time, I contemplated deleting my blog. I know I know, it’s shocking. I just feel really unsupported and overwhelmed. I feel like I’m the only person that wants this blog to remain successful and fun. I’m not going to name names but it seems like other people that are part of the production of my website, well, their hearts aren’t in it anymore and that’s the most difficult part. I’m not satisfied with the content and I’m just over being the only one that cares. Story of my life actually.

My rant is over. Enjoy your day.

A Fresh Start

IMG_3022 IMG_3032 IMG_3039 IMG_3041 IMG_3043 IMG_3047 IMG_3049IMG_3029I’m loving this fresh new start, aren’t you? Not only did 2015 just begin…but I recently moved into a new apartment. The change of scenery has really allowed my brain into thinking clearly and calmly. I haven’t been in my new place for a week and I’ve already made so many memories in it. I hope this feeling lasts forever. I hope I wake up every day with something to do, with a full heart, without anxiety, and with the energy to make my dreams come true. If you don’t follow me on social media, you probably don’t know that I started a YouTube channel. I could not be more excited and more terrified. Like my blog, it’s another creative outlet and chance to connect with other people across the country. I’ve made so many blogger friends and I cannot wait to meet more people and really connect through my YouTube channel. I’m really not sure what my channel will consist of. Vlogs (video diaries) here and there and maybe some fashion videos. Bare with me, because it will be a rocky start but I could not be more thankful for the people that have believed in me so far. You’re encouraging comments make me feel like I have purpose. Thank you.

Here’s another feminine look. My favorite kind of look if you haven’t noticed. I surprise myself everyday on how much of a girl I am. Being around boys my entire life makes me really appreciate lipstick, tulle skirts and curly hair. I can’t wait to share my love for girly things with my daughter some day but with my luck, I’ll continue to be surrounded by dudes. Another thing that I appreciate is how my mama raised me to dress. Her style is feminine, comfortable, and conservative. I have to admit that I’m just like her in that way. I like to make bolder choices when it comes to my wardrobe but I will always remain very feminine and conservative. Anthropologie is my one stop shop for all of those things. I can always count on Anthro to make me feel beautiful.

Minimalistic

IMG_1773IMG_1772 IMG_1774 IMG_1787 IMG_1791 IMG_1795 IMG_1800 IMG_1808There’s something lovely about wearing a minimal, sleek, but still sexy outfit. I had this confidence that I normally wouldn’t have without the help of an outfit like this one. Look at me, I think a boxy blazer is sexy. Yes, yes I do. I’m not someone who feels comfortable showing a lot of skin AND THAT’S OKAY. Ladies, take this advice. More clothing is better. Giving it all up right away isn’t cute. Low key sexy is the best kind of sexy. If all you wear is a rag, that’s how guys are going to treat you. My momma told me that to get respect from people… you must first have respect for yourself. Those are the words I live by. Basically what I’m saying is that you’re worth it. Dress like it.

Heels, in every situation, take a simple outfit to the next level. Little black strappy heels takes the outfit to a whole new level of confidence. Every girl needs a pair. And throw on some dark lips and OH MY GOSH, you’re it girl. YOU.ARE.IT. But when those heels get annoying to wear, don’t be afraid to wear your trusty converse like I did. Converse have my back day in and day out. I will always bring them along for the ride.

Xoxo, Karissa

Today’s Outfit & Being Kylie Jenner for a Day

IMG_2537 IMG_2545 IMG_2550 IMG_2553 image1Screen Shot 2014-11-01 at 11.38.08 AM

I hope everyone had an awesome and safe Halloween weekend. I was Kylie Jenner for a day and it wasn’t as fabulous as I hoped it would be. I only wish I was actually Kylie Jenner for a day. That girl has no worries. My sad bank account would have loved to be Kylie Jenner’s bank account as well. I went home, removed my pounds of makeup, and went back to my boring normal life as a girl with two jobs and a bucket list that has more empty boxes than it does with checks through them. I’m not complaining, I enjoy being me but it was definitely a reality check. Dressing up as a 16 year old millionaire puts things in perspective for you. It was kind of depressing. “What am I doing with my life” is a question that I ask myself all too much along with, “When will my dreams come true?” “When will I be happy again?” At the end of the day I’m glad that I am me and no one else. I just wish I had more in my bank account but don’t we all. I’m not gonna lie, I had a fun time playing dress up and wearing makeup and clothes that I normally wouldn’t wear but my question to all of you is…If you could choose who you wanted to be in this life…would you pick you?

If your answer is no than you should do something about that. I think instead of sitting around feeling sorry for yourself (some days that’s me) you should be creating that kind of  life for yourself. I know I say this a lot but give yourself a little more credit. Chase those dreams even if they seem galaxies away. I would MUCH rather work my booty off and build character than have it all handed to me. It’s the journey, not the destination, that makes us who we are.

Xoxo,

Karissa
