Color and Converse

IMG_2970IMG_2953 IMG_2969 IMG_2993IMG_2958 IMG_3010IMG_2965It’s safe to say that I have a Thanksgiving hangover. I have leftovers for days. My belly is at full capacity and my entire family went back home today. It’s back to reality. I know I moved far away to be on my own and start my life but it’s never fun saying goodbye to your loved ones. I don’t have a whole lot of friends or family here in Denver. It can get pretty lonely sometimes for Wyatt and I. It was nice to have my parents, my brother, Averie, and 3 kids keeping me occupied all weekend. I already miss my niece and nephews so much. Not waking up to their cute little voices in the morning makes me kind of sad. I didn’t get much sleep at all over the weekend but it’s all so worth it because family time is the best, beauty sleep can wait. We did a whole lot of eating, laughing, dancing, playing, shopping and celebrating. My twin nieces turned 6 on Black Friday and my niece Bella turns 4 this Wednesday. This time of year is always extra special because it feels like the love in the family overflows. We are so blessed to have our little ones in our lives. I really can’t imagine anything besides being an aunt. It’s my favorite thing to be. I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend with family and friends. If you’re at home sitting on your phone or laptop regretting all those rolls you ate like I am right now…let’s just get your mind off of it and try to enjoy this little outfit post. Inspiration is everywhere… even when you’re bloated.

Fun With Layers

IMG_2626 IMG_2627IMG_2633_Fotor_Collage IMG_2649 IMG_2655 IMG_2659 IMG_2663Adding fall layers to a summer piece can be tricky. My biggest tip to you is to not think about it so much. You can never go wrong with throwing on a cardigan and some boots. I don’t like putting away my summer clothes when fall and winter time strikes. Heck, that takes all the fun out of it. My summer items are still as good in fall as they are in the summer. Warming them up is actually really simple. It’s easy things like putting a long sleeve top under it, adding leggings, adding boots, putting on a dark lip, or wearing a denim jacket. There’s really no messing it up. I wasn’t worried at all about wearing this bold printed floral jumpsuit with layering pieces that didn’t match. I felt like being funky this day and the turn out was great. There’s people out there that appreciate the funky, unique, non-matching side of you. Embrace that side every once in awhile. The autumn time is literally the perfect time to do so.

Sparks of Gold

IMG_2575 IMG_2580 IMG_2586 IMG_2600 IMG_2604 IMG_2597_Fotor_CollageFrom my necklace, to my shoes, to my trousers you can tell I’m a sucker for gold detailing. These moss colored trousers are perfect. Feminine, yet, slouchy. Which is my favorite type of bottoms. The gold diamonds on them is what stole my heart. I’ll put anything on my body that has some type of gold looking anything on it.  I saw these pants at Anthropologie and I said “Take my money right now.”  These bottoms aren’t the only thing that stole the show. Let’s talk about this necklace for a second. First of all, anything from Urban Peach Boutique is nicely made, totally fun, bright, and affordable. They are one of my favorite jewelry companies by far. The people who work behind the scenes of this fabulous company are so sweet to me and it’s nice knowing that there are good, wholesome people behind the product you are buying. Lucky for all of you, they are having this lovely Veterans Day sale -all necklaces are 2 for $15! This is your chance to fall in love with Urban Peach Boutique. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Check out their store –> here.

P.S. It’s snowing here in Denver. I am beyond freezing writing this blog post. I have a few outfit posts prescheduled that I did when the weather was much happier and warmer. Trust me, it’s officially winter here in Colorado but the next few posts will be more fall appropriate outfits. Just thought I would let you know!

Minimalistic

IMG_1773IMG_1772 IMG_1774 IMG_1787 IMG_1791 IMG_1795 IMG_1800 IMG_1808There’s something lovely about wearing a minimal, sleek, but still sexy outfit. I had this confidence that I normally wouldn’t have without the help of an outfit like this one. Look at me, I think a boxy blazer is sexy. Yes, yes I do. I’m not someone who feels comfortable showing a lot of skin AND THAT’S OKAY. Ladies, take this advice. More clothing is better. Giving it all up right away isn’t cute. Low key sexy is the best kind of sexy. If all you wear is a rag, that’s how guys are going to treat you. My momma told me that to get respect from people… you must first have respect for yourself. Those are the words I live by. Basically what I’m saying is that you’re worth it. Dress like it.

Heels, in every situation, take a simple outfit to the next level. Little black strappy heels takes the outfit to a whole new level of confidence. Every girl needs a pair. And throw on some dark lips and OH MY GOSH, you’re it girl. YOU.ARE.IT. But when those heels get annoying to wear, don’t be afraid to wear your trusty converse like I did. Converse have my back day in and day out. I will always bring them along for the ride.

Today’s Outfit & Being Kylie Jenner for a Day

IMG_2537 IMG_2545 IMG_2550 IMG_2553 image1Screen Shot 2014-11-01 at 11.38.08 AM

I hope everyone had an awesome and safe Halloween weekend. I was Kylie Jenner for a day and it wasn’t as fabulous as I hoped it would be. I only wish I was actually Kylie Jenner for a day. That girl has no worries. My sad bank account would have loved to be Kylie Jenner’s bank account as well. I went home, removed my pounds of makeup, and went back to my boring normal life as a girl with two jobs and a bucket list that has more empty boxes than it does with checks through them. I’m not complaining, I enjoy being me but it was definitely a reality check. Dressing up as a 16 year old millionaire puts things in perspective for you. It was kind of depressing. “What am I doing with my life” is a question that I ask myself all too much along with, “When will my dreams come true?” “When will I be happy again?” At the end of the day I’m glad that I am me and no one else. I just wish I had more in my bank account but don’t we all. I’m not gonna lie, I had a fun time playing dress up and wearing makeup and clothes that I normally wouldn’t wear but my question to all of you is…If you could choose who you wanted to be in this life…would you pick you?

If your answer is no than you should do something about that. I think instead of sitting around feeling sorry for yourself (some days that’s me) you should be creating that kind of  life for yourself. I know I say this a lot but give yourself a little more credit. Chase those dreams even if they seem galaxies away. I would MUCH rather work my booty off and build character than have it all handed to me. It’s the journey, not the destination, that makes us who we are.

Xoxo,

Karissa
