Little Blue Dress

Forget the little black dress. Let’s switch things up just a little bit. This shift silhouette is all the rage right now. I have a bunch in my closet for those days when I don’t feel like putting in much effort and when I want my outfit to do all the talking. The boiled wool material makes the outfit a little more cozier and winter appropriate. This little ensemble is acceptable for work functions, girls night, and even date night. I went for a more “everyday” look (everyday for me) by pairing it with a striped turtleneck and statement fox printed tights. Don’t be the girl in the little back dress. Be the one that takes it to a different level with a pretty cobalt blue/green dress. It’s okay to be the oddball sometimes. I prefer it actually. ODDBALLS UNITE!

2015…You’re gonna be a good one.

Happy New Year my lovely friends. I hope your year is full of happiness, growth, and love. I hope each and every one of you tries new things and conquers something on your check list. Let’s all continue to love more and smile more. We could all use it don’t you think? This world needs a little cup of tea. Tea is always soothing. If you’ve been wanting to start a blog…DO IT NOW. Don’t think too hard about the details, just type from the heart and you will never regret it. This blog has been the best thing to happen to me. Please continue to share my blog/Instagram/Twitter/ Facebook accounts with your friends. The more to my blog family the better.

One thing that 2014 taught me is that it’s okay to not be in control. I’ve tried to manage all aspects of my life and when something didn’t go as planned…I would panic and blame myself. I’m not the writer of my story. I have to breathe a little more and let things fall into place sometimes. There’s no rush. If something is meant to be, it will be. Every year I get stronger and weaker all at the same time. It’s part of life. I’m not completely happy with where I’m at in life, I have a lot to work on but I’m not making false promises to myself this year. No resolutions. I will work hard on my downfalls but I’m done punishing myself. I deserve to love me, right? Everyday is a struggle to do that but I will love who I am one day. 2015 is another year of recovery but also a year for self acceptance. More baths. More hot cocoa. More therapy. More friends. More wine. More walks. More sleep.

2015…You’re gonna be a good one.

Totally Tulle

If you’re in need of some quick and feminine holiday inspired outfits…I’ve got your back girl. I don’t think you could ever go wrong with a tulle skirt and a warm and cozy sweater. Let’s take things up a notch with a statement necklace (that I wear with every single outfit) and some fun bright heels. I love the femininity of this outfit. You can say that it was very “J.Crew” inspired. I’ve been shopping there a little too much lately. The guy that works there knows me on a first name basis. I have a feeling that this teal-ish stitched pullover is going to be my staple wardrobe piece this winter. I find myself reaching for it a lot because I think the color is stunning. I can wear it simple with just black leggings and combat boots or I go all out and pair it with a tulle skirt. Tulle seriously has my heart. I can never get enough of it. Someday, you watch, I will own every single color of tulle skirts.

Ladies, this holiday season, whatever you decide to wear…please do me a favor and don’t skip out on the lipstick. If there’s one time of year to be bold and try lipstick….it’s NOW!

Sparkle

I’ve been watching Sex and the City 2 for a straight week now. It’s perfectly cheesy and fabulous and I love it. Carrie mentions how all she wants in life is just a little bit of sparkle. I have to agree with her. I don’t want the diamond ring type of sparkle but the twinkle in your eye type of sparkle. I want the little things. I can’t even type out what the “little things” are but I know that they are out there, somewhere in the universe, waiting for me. They may be small insignificant things that go unnoticed to most but I live my life around those little things and I sometimes tear myself apart when I don’t get them or when I don’t make them happen. I would like to go out to a breakfast place with my 3 best girlfriends every Saturday dressed up in our Saturday’s brunch best. I would like to wake up every morning, have a cup of tea, read a book, paint my nails, dress in a outfit that came from Vogue magazine, take a taxi to work, style and write for the magazine that I work for, have a candlelight dinner with my boyfriend, take a walk in the rain and finally come home to my bright apartment with exposed brick and pastel colored accents and sit on my fancy mustard yellow couch. I want that kind of lifestyle. A life full of sunshine and sparkle. I’ve been struggling with a few things here and there but mostly the fact that I’m not at THAT point in my life yet. I wish it was here already. I wish that I could fast forward through the doubt, struggle, and tears and just the be the person that I’m meant to me. Anyone with me? In the mean time, I’ll hide these tears with a sequin covered blazer and bright pink lipstick. I guess sparkle only counts if you work towards it right?

Feathered & Feminine

I have been waiting for months and months to find the perfect opportunity to wear this skirt. One of my biggest fears is wasting a fabulous outfit on a not so fabulous day. It’s been beautifully hanging on my clothing rack forever and I’m so very pleased at how it ended up being styled for the first time. I knew the holiday season would be perfect to take this bad boy out. I think this feathered and feminine top was a match made in heaven. I felt like magic walking around in this little number. I love what a good outfit can do to your mood and confidence. I wish I had a party to wear this dress to but out of all the days, I chose to wear this on Black Friday. I had to work on Black Friday, which I didn’t mind one bit because 1) It saved me lot of money while I , simultaneously, was making money. 2) I enjoyed the rush and chaos 3) I got to dress up in my holidays best with my work buddies and make tons of sales. After all the madness, I thought my day couldn’t get any better but then my family and I went and ate out at the Cheesecake Factory. It was an awesome day thanks to this awesome outfit and my family; the only two things a girl really needs to conquer the world.
