Striped & High Waisted

IMG_7252 IMG_7264 IMG_7272 IMG_7290IMG_7260IMG_7263 IMG_7296_Fotor_CollageIMG_7273Will there ever come a day that I’m not on the hunt for menswear pieces? No. Never.

Menswear. You’ve heard this word before. It’s my all time favorite trend. You’ve also heard that before. Be prepared to see more menswear inspired outfit posts on my page. (Like you haven’t seen enough.) Menswear takes everything to the next level. It’s sleek. It’s sharp. I feel so powerful and trendy in menswear. I don’t have to show off a bunch of skin to turn heads. Nope. These trousers and my Urban Outfitters button up did plenty of that. I just love the contradiction of wearing bright orange red lipstick and curly hair with such a serious outfit. I’m having fun. That’s what it’s all about. Okay, I cannot get enough of these ZARA high waisted pants. I could live in them for the rest of my life. It’s such a good feeling investing in something with top notch material. Unlike most bow tie pants that are out there right now, these ones were made to last forever. They’re thick without being too heavy. They’re soft without being too cheap. They’re comfortable without looking like sweats. They are simply perfect. The olive green color caught my eye, not because it may resemble puke, but because it’s such a statement color without being too “in your face.” A very subtle statement piece and I’m all about that. Believe it or not but this shade of olive green can be paired with more than a handful of other colors. It’s like jeans…but better. What I love about high waisted trousers is that you can pretty much pair whatever you want with them: Button ups, crop tops, sweaters, long sleeves, turtlenecks. The list is endless… and so is my love for this outfit. So there.

Work Attire: Stripes & Button Ups

IMG_4788 IMG_4797 IMG_4799 IMG_4808 IMG_4812Work attire should LOOK like work but FEEL like a vacation. Nine to five in head to toe fabulous is what work attire should be (in my book). Say good-bye to hand-me-down grey blazers and uncomfortable pencil skirts. Dressing professional is so different nowadays. I really think corporate businesses are more accepting of personalized work attire. If this isn’t true in your case, it’s a bummer you’re boss is a stickler. As long as your outfit incorporates these four things: professionalism, sophistication, conservatism, and a sense of drive…I don’t see the problem in expressing who you are in the corporate world. Nothing is more inspiring to me than seeing a woman work her little booty off all day long, 5 days a week in heels. Dressing nice is just proof that you have good taste and what boss wouldn’t appreciate that? I think people gain more respect when they take the time to really elevate their appearance. You’re colleagues will automatically feel threatened which I think in the “dog eat dog world” isn’t such a bad thing. If you wanted to step up your work game just add a sophisticated black blazer to this look and you’re golden.

Once you have a better outlook on dressing for your 9 to 5 job, you’re gonna look and feel you’re best and that just leads to more promotions, gigs, jobs, and SUCCESS! Go get ’em ladies (and gents).

Day To Night: The Tunic

IMG_6687_Fotor_Collage

Day

A typical “day” outfit has to be appropriate for effortless mobility. Work, errands, meetings, shopping: It all has to be done so why not do it in an outfit that’s going to make you feel good while doing those pesky little things on your to-do list. Skinny jeans and a tunic are what I reach for on these particular days. It’s my way of saying “Look, I’ve got stuff to do. A dress is too fancy and t-shirt just won’t do, so here’s my tunic everybody, say hi.” I threw on my all time favorite fedora and my all time favorite boots and I suddenly I created my all time favorite “go to” errand runnin’ outfit. Like, watch out world, I’m on the go! Check check checkin’ off everything on my To Do list. You can’t stop me or my tunic…mmmkay?

IMG_6727 IMG_6751 IMG_6761Night

Okay, your long work day is over. Now it’s time to wine and dine. Or in other words…PARTY! Letting your hair down has a new meaning. Nowadays it means to pull your hair up completely out of your face. I don’t know about you but the very first thing I do when I get home from a long day is put my hair up in a bun. A bun serves as a double purpose. It reveals your beautiful face whilst being sleek and sexy for a night out on the town. WARNING! Wearing a tunic as a dress can be very tricky. Some tunics run shorter, so please, do us all and yourself a favor and don’t take that risk but other tunics, like this one, can run a little longer so it’s safe to wear as a dress. Just do a little test in the mirror before you go out. Adding a black leather jacket to ANY look automatically makes you look fierce and powerful but yet calm and collected at the same time. A win win in my book. A tunic will make your day and your night. Gotta love tunics eh?

BowTie PaperBag Pants

IMG_5736IMG_5720IMG_5739 IMG_5724 IMG_5741I really think I have discovered my new “happy pants.” Yes, it’s an actual thing. A great pair of pants can truly change your mood and make you happy, hence the name, happy pants. How could you not smile when you see these any how? The paper bag style is just lovely. I’m sure at some point in your life you have worn pants with a bow tie on it. It’s a classic yet statement look that every single girl can pull off, no matter the age. Anthropologie has two colors to choose from: Black and Orange. Surprisingly enough, the black pair can be styled in so many ways with so many different styles of tops. So for those ladies that like to keep their wardrobe a little safe but also a little fun, the black pair is just for you. But for my bold sistas out there, Orange is your color. Go big or go home am I right? I own plenty of black pants, so when I come across an opportunity to own a pair of striking orange ones…TAKE MY MONEY! These pants haven’t been the easiest thing to style from to day to day but hey, I like a challenge. That’s what I live for. I figured I would show you the most simple and bulletproof way to style these pants. I paired it my trusty ole’ crop top and my all time favorite blazer for a very sleek, minimal look. Hope you love it just as much as I do. You can always opt for a longer more conservative tee if that’s what you’re comfortable with. If so, your outfit will be transformed to fit into a more work appropriate setting. Give these pants a try. I think with an open mind you will fall in love with them like I did. Head over heels.

I ordered these pants in the size 00P. No regrets.

Modern Day Snow White

IMG_5251IMG_5268IMG_5243IMG_5249IMG_5266 IMG_5250IMG_5244

“Lips as red as the rose. Hair as black as ebony. Skin white as snow.”

If only, if only I could actually be a Disney character. I mean don’t we all wish that? We all want a happy ending and an apple that won’t kill us. I’ve always wondered why I didn’t get my mom’s golden, bronze, Hispanic skin. A long time ago it used to bug me that I didn’t get those Latina genes but I’ve accepted it. I’ve grown to love my porcelain skin and dark hair. I’m my very own Snow White. Since I cut my hair, I see the resemblance more and more. The irony of all this is that I hate the snow but I do love wearing white. White on white or even creamy whites is one of my favorite “go to” chic outfits. Celebrities do it all the time because it’s timeless just like the Disney princess in the book. I don’t think this trend will ever go out of style and neither will Snow White. Since starting my blog, I’ve learned to appreciate timeless looks. Simplicity is a something that I appreciate more and more with time but I will never let go of my bold factor. Ever. As of now, I’ve let go of the crazy prints and patterns. I still love color and prints but in moderation and in the right way. I’ve been stocking up my closet with pieces with will grow with me as I age. I’m done buying immature clothing if that makes any sense. Building your wardrobe this way will ensure that  you won’t have any regrets in 5, 10, 20 years on your wardrobe choices. It prevents those trips to the consignment shop as well. I will never get sick of styling this camel colored blazer, fleece pullover, and dot skirt. My favorite timeless pieces in one clean, feminine outfit. I only hope Snow White approves.

I ordered this skirt in a 0P at first but ended up with a 00P. Either Anthropologie’s clothes are getting bigger or I’m losing weight. Both are very likely.

Xoxo,
