Eye-Catching

DSC_0054copy DSC_0055copy DSC_0045copy DSC_0050copy DSC_0059copy DSC_0057copy DSC_0071_2copy DSC_0052copyThis might be the weirdest clothing item that I own but at the same time might be one of my favorites. This eye printed dress is Zara Summer ’14. It sold out so fast I didn’t even get the chance to put it in my cart, then Zara restocked it and my dreams came true. I may not express my love for bold, weird patterns enough on this page but I’m obsessed with all things high fashion. If you know me, you know that Mira Duma is my fashion icon. Her style is unpredictable and always unique. I think I fell in love with the way she always rocks her big bulky silhouettes. She’s very petite like me and I just love the contradiction in her style. I’ve never looked up to anyone as much as I do Mira. This post was definitely inspired by her love and my love for neoprene.

These pictures were taken back in August, by the lovely Aspen from Aspen Groen Media, right before I chopped off my hair. To my surprise, my hair is ALMOST back to this length. I think it’s all the high buns I’ve been rocking lately and putting less and less heat on my hair. Woo.

Thanks again Aspen for these awesome photos! Check out Aspen’s blog here and photography page here.

Hampton’s Inspired

IMG_8459 IMG_8476 IMG_8469 IMG_8481 IMG_8466 IMG_8478 IMG_8460When I think of the Hampton’s I immediately picture people running around in Ralph Lauren. Button ups, crisp collars, blazers, sailor stripes and all things J.Crew inspired. Although I have never personally been to that part of the East Coast I definitely think I depicted the Hamptonites’ everyday street style quite perfectly. The second my sailor shorts went on I wanted to catch a flight straight to The Hampton’s because I knew I would fit in. Even though my own personal style isn’t exactly “yacht chic” or “beach ready”, I do love dressing like it from time to time. A put together outfit like this gives the impression that I have it all together. That may be very far from the truth but (sometimes) you have to fake it till you make it. I hope I did the East Coast natives proud and I can’t wait to visit someday and see what all the hoopla is about.

The Best Jumpsuit of All Time

IMG_8428 IMG_8440 IMG_8409 IMG_8405 IMG_8426 IMG_8445 IMG_8399I bought this fabulous tropical inspired jumpsuit in the middle of winter thinking that it would make winter go by faster. No not at all. After nearly months of watching it just wilt away in my closet, I finally got the chance to wear this sweet jumpsuit of mine out and about in the city. Unfortunately, I picked the windiest day of the year to wear it and take pictures but that’s my luck and I’m used to it. Wyatt and I did our best to have patience with the wind and take some of the shots when the wind died for half of a second. Everyone thinks that photo shoots are so glamourous but trust me, there’s a lot of factors that can ruin a shot and eventually, my mood. Wyatt and I pulled it off and I just hope we did this jumpsuit justice because it truly is the coolest jumpsuit I own. I normally stay away from tribal prints but I’ve proven myself wrong time and time again. I will try anything (fashion-ly speaking) once. I cannot wait for the day that I can take it with me on a tropical vacation because that’s where this bad boy belongs. Somewhere on the beach with my toes in the water. Ahh… I can see it now.

Ok back to reality.

If you’ve been seeing this jumpsuit all around Instagram and think you might need it in your life, I strongly recommend that you try it on in store first. It fits everyone differently. I got lucky with this jumpsuit and didn’t have to take it to a tailor but you might have to underneath the arms. I got a 00Petite for those that are curious!

Indigo Girl

IMG_8308 IMG_8319 IMG_8310 IMG_8321 IMG_8305 IMG_8323 IMG_8304 IMG_8309Just call me Indigo Girl.

Here’s yet another post showcasing my obsession with the Indigo trend. Like I said before, I dive head first into trends because that’s the only way to really know what you love and what you don’t love. Indigo? Ya, I love. Some clothing items don’t shine very bright when they’re hanging on a hanger. This romper was one of those pieces. It was displayed as an Indigo blob of nothing important but as it turns out it’s currently one of my favorite pieces in my closet. This is why it is so important to give a piece of clothing a chance and try them on. I don’t know about you but this romper screams spring and summer. I’m pretty sure that I wore this little guy 3 times last week because it’s so easy to pull of and not to mention comfortable. Based on experience and feedback this romper suits the smaller chested the best. Ladies with a larger bust have mentioned some major tugging in that area. Every once in awhile my smaller chest takes the win. I would be devastated if this romper didn’t work because it’s going to be summer go to with a classic red lip. Be prepared to see this romper on my Instagram a lot. Speaking of which, go follow me @karissamariie

An Athletic Touch

IMG_8215_2IMG_8213_2 IMG_8217_2 IMG_8227_2 IMG_8228_2 IMG_8233_2 IMG_8246_2 IMG_8254_2I will admit once in awhile that I need to give my feet a little break. Those poor things have gotten beaten up their entire life. After dancing for about 15 years, I went straight to heels. They’ve never ever had a chance to breathe. I started to notice some nerve pain and I restricted myself from wearing any painful shoes for about a week so that my little footsies can recover. It’s nearly impossible for me to pick out an outfit and that outfit not to be elevated by heels. I knew it would be a challenge but I loved how my high school Nike’s saved the day and actually made the outfit really unique and fun. I really love the idea of throwing on some tennis shoes with a really sophisticated outfit. It’s unexpected and you all know I love that! My lovely Nike’s took this look to a sporty level with it’s small but noticeable athletic touch. I was able to do my thing with comfort and sass.

That’s all for now. I’m falling asleep while typing this. It’s been a long day and will be an even longer day tomorrow so I need to get my zzz’s. One thing that I wanted to mention was that I’m reading “Paper Towns” by John Green and OH MY GOSH, I’m hooked. I love reading books before the movie. It’s so satisfying. This is the first book I’ve had the chance to read in a year. I love reading. I don’t know why I ever stopped. If any of you have any recommendations for the next book I should read please feel free to comment below! I really love mysteries and love stories but I’m open to anything.
