Pretty Woman

How could I pass up a chance to be Julia Roberts on the movie, “Pretty Woman” for a day? I remember watching this movie when I was little with my mom and ever since then I have been on the hunt for the perfect polka dot dress. I tried my best to transform the infamous 1990’s outfit to more of a modern day, minimal look with a sleek leather jacket and hair in a low bun. I had no idea that I would be one to purchase a brown colored dress. I don’t think I own any brown clothing to be honest. It’s just not the most flattering color to wear but when you throw in some polka dots here and there, it’s automatically chic. I can’t wait to add more browns to my collection. I hope more people hop on this trend because it’s so unique.

Not only is the color of this dress out of my comfort zone but the low back feature is a whole ‘nother story. I NEVER buy anything with a low back because that just means finding a bra to wear them with. I’d rather be comfy and wear my normal bra than be uncomfortable in a back baring ensemble. I decided to take the risk and purchase this dress anyway because why not. I think I was so drawn to the fact that it reminded me so much of “Pretty Woman” I was blinded by the low back. I found a sticky bra (that’s surprisingly comfortable) and all my problems were solved.

I don’t think you understand how satisfied I feel knowing that I own a brown polka dot dress. Feeling like a pretty woman in this dress is a understatement…that’s for sure.

Denim Forever

Denim isn’t just about jeans anymore. Oh no girlfriend, it’s 2015 and we wear denim all over: Tops, skirts, shorts, dresses, purses, belts and even shoes. This infamous fabric has officially taken over the fashion scene and I’m not complaining one bit. There is nothing wrong with owning too much indigo, chambray and denim…or at least that’s what I continue to tell myself. I have an abnormal love for denim and all things blue. Every single person on this planet owns a piece of denim in their closet. It’s the number one absolute must-have wardrobe piece. I love to experiment with denim on a daily basis but my favorite thing to do pair denim with (surprise, surprise) even more denim. This look will never go out of style in my opinion. I really think it’s the easiest look to put together in a hurry. How do you glam it up you ask? It’s so simple. A red lip and heels, obviously. I could wear this outfit, and all similar denim on denim outfits, for the rest of my life. If I was a designer (as if) and I had my own collection, you bet it would consist of new twists and takes on modern day denim.

Denim, denim, denim. Have I said that word enough?

Denim…forever.

Scooters In Summer

Okay, hold up. A scooter printed top? Sign me up! I don’t think there is a cooler top on this planet to be honest. I got nothing but compliments and funny stares when I wore this lightweight, preppy tank and I didn’t mind because I know it’s the best. The shape is short and boxy: Exactly how I like my men. Ha. Just kidding Wyatt. I would wear this top with simple skinny or relaxed jeans on a casual day but decided to spruce it up with my favorite paperbag trousers.

I wore this look for 8 hours straight (because I have a big girl job now) and it was so comfortable and didn’t bother me at all. Sometimes even the cutest outfits can get a little uncomfortable but no, not this one. I really look for durable, sustainable outfits nowadays because I have to be able stand all day and move around easily in them. Looking cute is only my second priority. I seriously suggest checking out all the color ranges in this top because they might just be the silkiest and smoothest summer tank I’ve ever owned. I have nothing negative to say about it. So there.

Easy, Breezy, Beautiful…Kimono

I figured this statement, yet comfortable, outfit would be the perfect one to wear on my first day of my big girl job. I’m feeling all sorts of blessed and hopeful for the future and what better way to express that than this smile on my face and a fabulous kimono on my back, right? Why haven’t I hopped on the kimono train earlier? Maybe it’s because I haven’t found the perfect one, until now. This gold splattered kimono makes me feel like some enchanted fairy when I put it on. Beware my friends, kimonos are a powerful thing. To be honest, and don’t tell anyone I told you this, but they make you feel like Superwoman. It’s a like a fashion cape!

I decided to keep this look minimal and moveable with my favorite pair of jeans and a white button up. You can throw a kimono on almost anything, like a dress. I plan on wearing this fashion cape on those bonfire kind of nights with a few of my best friends. (If that ever happens.) And if not, I think it will do just fine cuddled up with me on the couch watching my favorite t.v. shows.

Blah, Blah, Blah

The rain doesn’t want to stop but neither will I. I refuse to let the weather determine my outfits so I decided to throw in my favorite J.Crew umbrella to protect me from this lousy weather. This umbrella isn’t the only statement piece in this outfit post. I really think this flounce sleeve top and patched jeans are really the ones that catch people’s attention. I cannot express to you enough how much I love this simple combo. I wore this to a Rockies game with Wyatt and threw on a leather jacket because it was an evening game. People would stop me, asking me where I got my ‘over the top’ distressed jeans. I think every girl needs a pair because they really make outfitting so much fun. I love that laid back girly kind of look and I’ve been rocking it non stop so far this summer.

By the way, can you believe it’s already summer? I’ve been happier than normal and I think it’s because it’s finally my favorite time of the year. I’m a summer baby so I was born to love the sunshine. I just want to be outside all the time and I’m not an outdoorsy person. I think when the weather is amazing, you really just fall in love with everything all over again.

It’s so good to be alive.
