A Blue & White Dream

IMG_8636 IMG_8657 IMG_8627 IMG_8676 IMG_8639 IMG_8664 IMG_8684 IMG_8651When I first saw this dress appear on my computer screen, I knew that it had to be mine. I fell in love with the Spanish vibes so much that I wish I was actually running around in Spain wearing this dress. Someday I WILL go back and it WILL be magical. I always love finding pieces that reflect my heritage. My whole life I never quite felt like a Hispanic girl. My porcelain skin and my lack of a hispanic vocabulary is reason enough to feel just like a typical white girl amongst my gorgeous dark skin and spanish speaking family. I usually question if I’m adopted but then I look at my mother, who is my twin, and I realize I’m right where I belong. That’s the beauty of fashion. It’s an opportunity to become who you are or even better, become a better you. I only own a few Hispanic inspired pieces in my wardrobe but this one takes the cake. I can’t wait to discover more and more to pass on to my nieces and children. This “off the shoulder trend” is going global and it’s unstoppable right now. I’m loving everything about the 2015 trends so far. I’ve embraced every single one from the bow-tie trousers, Indigo colors, and now, off the shoulder tops.

Isn’t fashion exciting?

Oh No! I’m In A Shopping Rut!

IMG_8592 IMG_8578 IMG_8581 IMG_8588 IMG_8586 IMG_8594 IMG_8580This outfit is full of oldies but goodies. Even though some of the pieces in this look might not be available to purchase I still hope this post gives you some sort of inspiration. How to pair t-shirts with skirts. How to mix textures and prints. How to really step up your girly side. What I love about fashion blogs is that it’s not about buying every single item in their posts from head to toe. It’s really about taking their look, finding similar pieces in your own closet, and creating something completely new, something that’s totally unique and you. I see a lot of people get discouraged about reading fashion blogs and not being able to purchase their look, but I guarantee you already have similar pieces in your closet that you might have neglected.

I’ve been stuck in a shopping rut for the past month and half (I haven’t boughten ANYTHING.) All of my favorite stores from Anthropologie to Zara just don’t have anything out that I’m in love with. Online shopping and in-store shopping has never been so disappointing. I don’t like anything! So desperate times call for desperate measures. When I get in a rut like this, with no new fabulous clothing items to play with, I give a little extra attention to my oldies. This really gives me a chance to REINVENT my own wardrobe and try out new ways to style my favorites.

Style is NOT about buying every new little thing on the market. Don’t stress if you’re not crazy about the current trends or if your not financially ready to buy clothes. What you already own is ready to be taken out into the world in new and exciting ways! Get creative with the clothes you already have. Challenge yourself.

The Culotte Trend

IMG_8491 IMG_8495 IMG_8510 IMG_8496 IMG_8507 IMG_8500What are culottes?

Culottes (•Coo-Lah-Tss•) are garments that hang like a skirt but are actually pants (A divided skirt). This trend has been unstoppable this year and it was the one trend that I never really felt like embracing. I knew if I bought a pair of culottes I would be stepping out my comfort zone and I would probably never wear them. So, I went a bought an affordable pair at Forever21 to get my toes a little wet before just diving in and my first thoughts were “I feel naked” and then those thoughts turned into, “Oh my gosh, I am in love, where can I buy more?” Every single store has displayed their own versions of this wide leg trend so finding a pair shouldn’t be too hard. I really recommend you fashion dare devils to go into a store and try on a pair because they don’t seem like much on the hanger but when you put them on you realize that they’re so fashion forward while being beyond comfortable at the same time. As you can see in this post, I went for a monochromatic look, which is always the safest way to go when trying out new things. Culottes are pretty simple to style. I would tuck in a simple white button up and add bold accessories and throw on a cropped blazer for an extra bonus. I’m currently on the hunt for more culottes to add to my wardrobe. I’ve linked a few of my favorites down below. Be bold, be brave and try out this fabulous trend.

The Ice Cream Shop

IMG_8528 IMG_8550 IMG_8535 IMG_8544 IMG_8558 IMG_8537 IMG_8543Why is this post going up later than normal you ask? Because I didn’t sleep for a straight week (Not exaggerating) and now that I’m finally able to sleep again I’m taking full advantage and I slept nearly 12 hours last night. Ahh. There is nothing better than getting a good nights sleep. Okay back to the post. I’m a huge sucker for co-ordinates. I love the look of them. They might just be the easiest, chicest thing that anyone can pull off. I’m always on the hunt for some good co-ordinate outfits but can never really find the right pair. Since I’m still on this Indigo kick, I didn’t hesitate purchasing this denim outfit from Urban Outfitters. Not only does it scream summer but it also screams “Take me to the ice cream shop!” So that’s what I did. I really think co-ordinate outfits are prefect for nearly every occasion but even more so for vacations! Easy to pack and easy to pull off. In other news, I’m almost to 11K on Instagram…Go follow me! Here.

Eye-Catching

DSC_0054copy DSC_0055copy DSC_0045copy DSC_0050copy DSC_0059copy DSC_0057copy DSC_0071_2copy DSC_0052copyThis might be the weirdest clothing item that I own but at the same time might be one of my favorites. This eye printed dress is Zara Summer ’14. It sold out so fast I didn’t even get the chance to put it in my cart, then Zara restocked it and my dreams came true. I may not express my love for bold, weird patterns enough on this page but I’m obsessed with all things high fashion. If you know me, you know that Mira Duma is my fashion icon. Her style is unpredictable and always unique. I think I fell in love with the way she always rocks her big bulky silhouettes. She’s very petite like me and I just love the contradiction in her style. I’ve never looked up to anyone as much as I do Mira. This post was definitely inspired by her love and my love for neoprene.

These pictures were taken back in August, by the lovely Aspen from Aspen Groen Media, right before I chopped off my hair. To my surprise, my hair is ALMOST back to this length. I think it’s all the high buns I’ve been rocking lately and putting less and less heat on my hair. Woo.

Thanks again Aspen for these awesome photos! Check out Aspen’s blog here and photography page here.
