Spring Bohemian

IMG_5381 IMG_5386 IMG_5389 IMG_5390 IMG_5393 IMG_5399As most of you know, I’m not one to check the weather. I know should probably start at some point but as of now I’ll take the risk. Even though I’d like to think that I have complete control over the weather and can wear whatever I want, that’s simply not the truth, but I will compromise from time to time. The weather in Denver is either a hit or miss. Thank goodness our weekends are filled with sunshine and warm weather but the weekdays have been miserable. It snowed today and no one warned me! The weather may be frustrating but choosing your outfit doesn’t have to be. My heart has been dying for Spring to arrive so I can get out my brights again but the weather tells me no. I decided to take the reigns on this one and pair my favorite bright joggers with my favorite sweater. (It’s technically a poncho but whatever) Two seasons in one. Adding brights and colorful lipstick to a typical fall outfit is my favorite and bulletproof way to conquer the gloomy day blues. People think that transitioning between seasons is complicated but I find it challenging and fun. It’s the perfect time of the year to get creative with layering. Pullovers are at their peak during spring and fall because of their ability to easily transform to your needs. You’re cold? Throw a sweater on. You’re hot? Wrap the sweater around your waist for a more laid back vibe. Pullover 101 my friends. It’s the easiest trick in the book. This “poncho” is my favorite “go to” cold weather essential. The scalloped hem detail is what caught my eye from the very start. It’s one of my favorite bohemian-like pieces in my closet! Shop my outfit below.

Indigo Vibes

IMG_7219IMG_7207 IMG_7218 IMG_7220 IMG_7227 2 IMG_7234

You HAVE to love a 3 item look that isn’t a typical t-shirt and jeans outfit. 1)Top 2)Overalls 3)Statement shoes. Overalls are known for transforming a simple outfit into a comfortable chic one. Every girl needs a black pair. The possibilities are nearly endless. I love how we simply have to throw on a pair of overalls and automatically feel like we’re stepping out of the box but not too far out of the box either. It’s all about being fashionable AND approachable. I like to wear my overalls with simple pieces most of the time, just to enhance them and have more of the focus on my fab overalls. I choose to wear an outfit like this when going out on a casual lunch date with some friends. Most of mine and Wyatt’s friends aren’t into fashion as much as I am so I like to feel comfortable around them and their 3 item look but I never sacrifice who I am at the same time. I will never skip out on the lipstick or the heels. That’s just impossible. All of my friends are understanding of some of my outrageous outfits and some even praise me for dressing uniquely and I could not be more thankful for that. If the day comes that a friend doesn’t like the way I am…see ya later LOSER! Just kidding, but really. That would never happen anyways considering I don’t have very many friends AND the friends I do have are incredible so I’m good “overall.” HA! I crack myself up.

Black & Gold

IMG_6950IMG_6971 IMG_6952IMG_6976 IMG_6961I can’t remember how early I woke up on this day. It was a whole lot earlier than what I’m used to that’s for sure. On days when I am truly exhausted and to be honest, not in the best mood, I wear all black. An all black outfit is my way of telling the world that “I’m not my normal happy self, just ignore me please.” I usually sport an all black outfit when I need to get things done and don’t feel like looking approachable. Like, seriously, ignore me. If you can’t tell already, I wasn’t wearing ANY makeup in this post besides some red lipstick. I’ve been rocking this “no makeup” look a ton lately. I’m going through a weird phase where I actually hate makeup. Less is much much more to me nowadays. I also threw on some bold sunglasses to hide the lack of sleep instead of putting on concealer. If ya know me, you know that I love gold accents. I think I even have a past blog post that’s titled ‘gold accents.’ I’m not too sure. Anyways I was so thrilled to rock these gold heels and my gold purse. My two favorites in one little post.

As you can tell this outfit is pretty basic but it still has its bold factor which is what I absolutely love in a day to day look. Go ahead and wear your all black ensemble and rock it when you do but don’t rock it every single day. It would be a shame to be unapproachable all the time. Looking like a ninja isn’t a bad thing, trust me, but being colorful and vibrant isn’t either!

Take a dip into both worlds. It’s fun!

Dusty Blue

Trend Alert: Blue.

All shades, shapes, and colors of blue are all the rage right now.

Denim. Indigo. Chambray. Dusty Blue. I don’t think I’ve seen these arrangements of colors more in my life until right now. Every clothing store you walk into displays denim jackets, chambray tops, indigo pants, the list goes on and on. I’ve never owned so much blue in my closet until this season. I can’t get enough of it. Blue goes hand in hand with menswear but for just for today, I wanted to show my girly side and prove you that you don’t have to wear pinks and purples to look feminine. A tulle skirt and sleek leather jacket will do the trick just fine. Blue is the new pink. You can walk into any store and pick up your perfect shade of blue but only Alexandra Grecco has this unique shade of Dusty Blue. This skirt is beautiful and can be worn with ANY color. Trust me, I’ll prove myself to you in future posts. This kind of “blue-grey” is the sweetest and most stylish color of 2015. You better hop on the bandwagon now or you’ll miss out. Alexandra Grecco, a New York-based vintage-inspired womenswear line, has much more to explore on their site (here.) I desperately needed a city backdrop for this look. Since this company is based out of the most gorgeous city in America I had to pretend that I was in NYC just for a moment. Like the color of this skirt, I was in the clouds.

Striped & High Waisted

IMG_7252 IMG_7264 IMG_7272 IMG_7290IMG_7260IMG_7263 IMG_7296_Fotor_CollageIMG_7273Will there ever come a day that I’m not on the hunt for menswear pieces? No. Never.

Menswear. You’ve heard this word before. It’s my all time favorite trend. You’ve also heard that before. Be prepared to see more menswear inspired outfit posts on my page. (Like you haven’t seen enough.) Menswear takes everything to the next level. It’s sleek. It’s sharp. I feel so powerful and trendy in menswear. I don’t have to show off a bunch of skin to turn heads. Nope. These trousers and my Urban Outfitters button up did plenty of that. I just love the contradiction of wearing bright orange red lipstick and curly hair with such a serious outfit. I’m having fun. That’s what it’s all about. Okay, I cannot get enough of these ZARA high waisted pants. I could live in them for the rest of my life. It’s such a good feeling investing in something with top notch material. Unlike most bow tie pants that are out there right now, these ones were made to last forever. They’re thick without being too heavy. They’re soft without being too cheap. They’re comfortable without looking like sweats. They are simply perfect. The olive green color caught my eye, not because it may resemble puke, but because it’s such a statement color without being too “in your face.” A very subtle statement piece and I’m all about that. Believe it or not but this shade of olive green can be paired with more than a handful of other colors. It’s like jeans…but better. What I love about high waisted trousers is that you can pretty much pair whatever you want with them: Button ups, crop tops, sweaters, long sleeves, turtlenecks. The list is endless… and so is my love for this outfit. So there.
