This Outfit Is Delicious

IMG_9015 IMG_8991 IMG_8999 IMG_9034 IMG_9006 IMG_8990 IMG_9020 IMG_9002Hello my loves, I’m writing to you at midnight and I have a very busy day tomorrow so I’m going to make this short and sweet. This isn’t like me to be a busy bee but I feel like I haven’t stopped to breathe for a long time. I had such an amazing weekend because my parents came to visit. We ate out a lot and just enjoyed each others company. Another reason why this past weekend was one for the books was because my boyfriend/photographer, Wyatt, entered into a mens physique competition here in Denver and he won First place! Yes! First place. After weeks and weeks of preparing for this competition, eating nothing but chicken and asparagus, sacrificing sweets and going out, I could not be more proud of him for succeeding. He deserved it and I can’t wait for Nationals!

I shouldn’t take all the credit for this outfit because it was definitely inspired by “The Showroom” blog. I have to give credit where credit is due. She is one of my fashion blogger icons at the moment. I saw this fun food printed top on her and just had to buy it because I love the way she styled them with these brick colored shorts. I just adore this fun and daring outfit.

Okay, I don’t think I’m making a whole lot of sense. I’m so tired, I can’t even type. I’m going to watch Netflix until I fall asleep. Until next time my friends.

With love,

I Got Eyelash Extensions!

IMG_8297_2 IMG_8275_2 IMG_8274_2 IMG_8289_2 IMG_8286_2 IMG_8299_2_Fotor_Collage_FotorEvery girl wants to have eyelashes like a Disney princess does. I’m sure most of you can agree that not all of us were born with long, voluminous lashes. It’s a struggle almost every morning to coat layers and layers of mascara. Mascara promises you that you’re lashes will reach a pristine level of lash domination. They all promise that you’re lashes will be pump, extreme, and amplified times ten. I’ve tried them all and have been left hopeless and nearly lash-less. It’s extremely damaging to your eyelashes to remove those loads and loads of mascara that we just spent forever putting on but it’s also very damaging to use an eyelash curler. I feel like I’ve used every technique in the book to achieve longer, shinier, and fuller lashes. I’ve even tried heating my eyelash curler with a blow dryer before hand and it didn’t turn out pretty. While I was doing my research on “lash success” I found out that strip lashes are SO BAD! The adhesive glue used to stick the strip lash onto your natural lash is one of the worst things you can do to your eye area. Most people come to find out that they’re actually allergic to the glue and one of the many side effects is blindness…. BLINDNESS! No thank you.

Maybe it’s Maybelline, maybe it’s just not.

The option of eyelash extensions has just been recently introduced to me. I didn’t understand the magnitude at which this trend was growing and how many companies were starting to offer eyelash extensions. It’s a beauty craze at the moment and I honestly see this trend lasting forever…or at least until they come up with something better. (I doubt that.)

I had so many questions: How long do they last? How much does it cost? Where do you find the best esthetician ? Is it worth it? It’s when I reached out to Oxana Hull from Mile High Lashes in Denver, CO that all my questions were answered. I had done my research on Mile High Lashes before hand because I wanted to make sure that I was going somewhere where they not only took good care of my eyelashes but also took care of me. I wanted an esthetician that knew what she/he was doing and more. All the reviews I read on the internet were nothing but 5 stars. Before I had ever considered getting lash extensions, I had gotten a few recommendations from 3 or 4 ladies that  said they absolutely loved Oxana and they loved their new lashes. I 100% agree with them.

IMG_1812-3Oxana, with her friendly attitude and amazing skin, was so easy to talk to. She really welcomes you with open arms. The first time I saw her to get my “Natural” set of lashes, we talked the entire time. The second time around for a more dramatic lash, she let me rest a little because I woke up really early that morning. She’s so incredibly kind and talented I really wouldn’t trust anyone else with my lashes. Oxana also keeps her station in tip-top shape inside her humble yet bold room where eyelashes come alive! I will continue to get refills from her and no one else.

I mean it ladies. Eyelash extensions is something you have to try once. If it’s not for you, they can be easily removed, pain free. But once you see how dramatic the difference is and how confident and feminine you feel… you won’t turn back! I don’t see the need to wear makeup anymore because my new lashes lift my face and give me such a glow. To make the decision easier for you on whether or not you want to try lash extensions, if you say that I sent you, you get 25% off your visit at Mile High Lashes!

Mascara is SO yesterday.

With love,

Karissa Marie

P.S.

Lash extensions last through a full growth cycle of natural eyelashes, typically six to eight weeks.

The Corporate Girl

IMG_8147 IMG_8177 IMG_8171_2 IMG_8161 IMG_8197_2 IMG_8169

Dear Corporate Girl, This one is for you.

A corporate girl is the perfect combination between vitality and glamour. She knows how to work a keyboard while looking like she can work a runway. She pays her bills while still paying attention to fashion trends. She’s powerful. She’s beautiful. And don’t worry, she’s 100% capable of making earth shattering decisions in her stilettos.

My last blog post was all about reviving our girly side and bringing out our pinks and rocking our purples again. Well, some of us don’t get that satisfaction. Most of us hard working ladies are still stuck in the corporate world vortex and can’t creatively express ourselves. I wanted to style a business appropriate outfit, one that makes you feel powerful and productive while still being somewhat on trend. If you haven’t caught on already, there are different versions of these bow-tie pants out everywhere right now. I really think that the corporate girl should be rocking these beauties because they can be styled minimally during the weekdays and styled oh so chic on the weekends. They are perfect for the corporate girl and do you know what else is perfect? Fun statement heels. The corporate girl shouldn’t be too afraid to throw on some heels because there’s no better way in breaking up a boring outfit than adding some shoes with flare and pizzaz. (That’s the first time I’ve ever used the word pizzazz. It’s actually kind of fun. Pizzazz. Pizzazz. Pizzazz.)

With Love,

Peek-A-Boo Lace

IMG_7996 IMG_8013 IMG_7975 IMG_8015 IMG_7999 IMG_7977 IMG_8019A little peek-a-boo lace never hurt anybody. This outfit was inspired by the lovely, Sincerely Jules. Her cool and effortless style is the epitome of Los Angeles. She loves to reveal just a little lace with her deep v-necks and wavy Cali hair. She’s always making us want more but still keeping it classy. I love that about her. Julie really is the definition of cool, so I tried to channel that in today’s post. I probably needed a few more dainty accessories like the ones she rocks but I’m not an accessory kind of girl. I did take a big step out of my comfort zone and un-buttoned a few buttons on my blouse to reveal a little romantic lace because life is too short to waste time on buttons. Another item that Sincerely Jules is known to rock over and over again are mini skirts. I don’t own a lot of these but a recent favorite is one that I picked up from Tobi.com. The vertical grey and white stripes are extremely satisfying. This classic combo of colors can be paired with nearly everything…even some peek-a-boo lace.

What Spring Is All About

IMG_7972 IMG_7950 IMG_7941 IMG_7942 IMG_7952 IMG_7918 IMG_7939Happy Easter!

Pastels are on trend more than ever right now. I’ve haven’t entirely let go of pastels so when they eventually come back around, I’m fully prepared. I’ve stocked up over the years so I have plenty of light pink and baby blue to spare. I’ve preached my love for the light wash combo of colors time and time again. We all know that if I could paint my own world it would be in pastels, obviously. When I saw this brushstroke top online, my heart skipped a beat. It was made for me. I know I’ll be rocking this top all spring and summer long. I hope more stores embrace this brushstroke/painter vibe because it has “Karissa” written all over it. I dive into all sorts of fashion adventures but after awhile I get bored and move on. I move my gently loved clothing to the back of my closet to only find myself reaching for it months or even years later when they come back alive in the fashion world. Not with pastels. Nope. Never. I keep these babies in the front row. Everyone has a color or a collections of colors that they love to buy and feel good in. Mine are pastels. I’ll tell ya, I sometimes feel prettier in pastels than I do in a ball gown. Their just my thing and I love it. LOVE IT.

For those that aren’t really involved or haven’t emerged themselves into fashion, maybe it’s just because you haven’t fallen for or allowed yourself to fall for your color or your trend. Wanna know how to find the best trend that works for you? You have to try them all out. DUH. Trial and error ladies. It takes stepping out of your comfort zone and emerging yourself into trends that come and go. Start with a top or an accessory. Then once your feel some sort of connection, you move to pants. It may take time to find your “thing” or your place in the world but you’ll get there. You won’t get there by going to same old clothing stores or searching the same old online shops. Try searching something different and starting new.

That’s what spring is all about.

With Love,
