IMG_9298A fashionista is nothing without her statement heels and her statement heels are nothing without healthy, strong feet. I am all about foot care because my poor feet get the worst of it. My job requires me to stand, run, walk in heels 8 hours a day. I want to make sure my prized possessions (my shoes) are still a big part of my daily life so that means taking good care of my feet.

IMG_9296

I’ve had the opportunity to try out many foot care products and many of them are great but not exactly what I’m looking for. When Solemates reached out to me, I had reached a point where I thought I would never find the right products to soothe and heal by tired feet. After trying out the products I can honestly say that my feet feel 10x fresher and stronger.

Freshen

♥ One of my favorite products from the SoleMates collection would be their baby powder scented spray that eliminates all bacteria inside your shoes while keeping them smelling like new! It also prevents sweaty feet and who doesn’t want that?

Blister Blocker

♥Their Blister Blocker Anti-Friction balm is a very important product to me and I refuse to leave the house without it nowadays. This balm prevents friction which also prevents those red, painful blisters we all hate. It glides on smoothly without leaving a greasy residue which is a plus.

Buff

♥This sponge is the perfect match for those shoes that have had too much love over the years. This magical tool is self explanatory and it’s a must have for you fashionistas like me.

Protect

♥ There is nothing worse than banged up shoes and accessories. Let’s protect those that we love the most with some leather protecter spray. It works on leather, suede, and even fabric. Take care of those hard earned shoes why don’t ya.

High Heeler

♥ Okay. This last, but certainly not least, product is so cool and handy. This summer I’m sure you will attend at least one wedding or barbecue. One of which is bound to be on grass and there is no way I’m sacrificing looking cute in heels. You can now leave those flats at home because this product actually keeps your heels from falling deep into the grass. No more embarrassing walks down the isle that’s for sure.

IMG_9306If you’re a high heel kind of gal and want to start taking care of not only your shoes but your feet as well, I really do recommend investing in some great foot care products. Behind every fashionista are great products that keep her going.

I Got Eyelash Extensions!

IMG_8297_2 IMG_8275_2 IMG_8274_2 IMG_8289_2 IMG_8286_2 IMG_8299_2_Fotor_Collage_FotorEvery girl wants to have eyelashes like a Disney princess does. I’m sure most of you can agree that not all of us were born with long, voluminous lashes. It’s a struggle almost every morning to coat layers and layers of mascara. Mascara promises you that you’re lashes will reach a pristine level of lash domination. They all promise that you’re lashes will be pump, extreme, and amplified times ten. I’ve tried them all and have been left hopeless and nearly lash-less. It’s extremely damaging to your eyelashes to remove those loads and loads of mascara that we just spent forever putting on but it’s also very damaging to use an eyelash curler. I feel like I’ve used every technique in the book to achieve longer, shinier, and fuller lashes. I’ve even tried heating my eyelash curler with a blow dryer before hand and it didn’t turn out pretty. While I was doing my research on “lash success” I found out that strip lashes are SO BAD! The adhesive glue used to stick the strip lash onto your natural lash is one of the worst things you can do to your eye area. Most people come to find out that they’re actually allergic to the glue and one of the many side effects is blindness…. BLINDNESS! No thank you.

Maybe it’s Maybelline, maybe it’s just not.

The option of eyelash extensions has just been recently introduced to me. I didn’t understand the magnitude at which this trend was growing and how many companies were starting to offer eyelash extensions. It’s a beauty craze at the moment and I honestly see this trend lasting forever…or at least until they come up with something better. (I doubt that.)

I had so many questions: How long do they last? How much does it cost? Where do you find the best esthetician ? Is it worth it? It’s when I reached out to Oxana Hull from Mile High Lashes in Denver, CO that all my questions were answered. I had done my research on Mile High Lashes before hand because I wanted to make sure that I was going somewhere where they not only took good care of my eyelashes but also took care of me. I wanted an esthetician that knew what she/he was doing and more. All the reviews I read on the internet were nothing but 5 stars. Before I had ever considered getting lash extensions, I had gotten a few recommendations from 3 or 4 ladies that  said they absolutely loved Oxana and they loved their new lashes. I 100% agree with them.

IMG_1812-3Oxana, with her friendly attitude and amazing skin, was so easy to talk to. She really welcomes you with open arms. The first time I saw her to get my “Natural” set of lashes, we talked the entire time. The second time around for a more dramatic lash, she let me rest a little because I woke up really early that morning. She’s so incredibly kind and talented I really wouldn’t trust anyone else with my lashes. Oxana also keeps her station in tip-top shape inside her humble yet bold room where eyelashes come alive! I will continue to get refills from her and no one else.

I mean it ladies. Eyelash extensions is something you have to try once. If it’s not for you, they can be easily removed, pain free. But once you see how dramatic the difference is and how confident and feminine you feel… you won’t turn back! I don’t see the need to wear makeup anymore because my new lashes lift my face and give me such a glow. To make the decision easier for you on whether or not you want to try lash extensions, if you say that I sent you, you get 25% off your visit at Mile High Lashes!

Mascara is SO yesterday.

With love,

Karissa Marie

P.S.

Lash extensions last through a full growth cycle of natural eyelashes, typically six to eight weeks.

An Athletic Touch

IMG_8215_2IMG_8213_2 IMG_8217_2 IMG_8227_2 IMG_8228_2 IMG_8233_2 IMG_8246_2 IMG_8254_2I will admit once in awhile that I need to give my feet a little break. Those poor things have gotten beaten up their entire life. After dancing for about 15 years, I went straight to heels. They’ve never ever had a chance to breathe. I started to notice some nerve pain and I restricted myself from wearing any painful shoes for about a week so that my little footsies can recover. It’s nearly impossible for me to pick out an outfit and that outfit not to be elevated by heels. I knew it would be a challenge but I loved how my high school Nike’s saved the day and actually made the outfit really unique and fun. I really love the idea of throwing on some tennis shoes with a really sophisticated outfit. It’s unexpected and you all know I love that! My lovely Nike’s took this look to a sporty level with it’s small but noticeable athletic touch. I was able to do my thing with comfort and sass.

That’s all for now. I’m falling asleep while typing this. It’s been a long day and will be an even longer day tomorrow so I need to get my zzz’s. One thing that I wanted to mention was that I’m reading “Paper Towns” by John Green and OH MY GOSH, I’m hooked. I love reading books before the movie. It’s so satisfying. This is the first book I’ve had the chance to read in a year. I love reading. I don’t know why I ever stopped. If any of you have any recommendations for the next book I should read please feel free to comment below! I really love mysteries and love stories but I’m open to anything.

| Sole Serum |

IMG_7733IMG_7692 IMG_7720 IMG_7729 IMG_7698 IMG_7702 IMG_7739 IMG_7717Day in and day out I get asked how I’m able to wear heels all day long. To be honest, I’m like most women and I do get foot pain. I’m just able to sacrifice my comfort so I can wear my favorite heels. Heels make me feel beautiful. It may sound silly but they not only elevate every single look you wear, but they bring confidence that a normal flat couldn’t, just couldn’t. No matter the amount of blisters, red marks, and band-aids I still would much rather opt for heels. Those painful days are over ladies! I would hate for other women to not feel the way I do in heels because of their discomfort, so here’s my secret.

Let me introduce you to Sole Serum– “A serum that targets foot pain relief. With the power of lidocaine and a soothing combination of natural oils and extracts, Sole Serum takes away your daily aches and pains. Just simply apply a small amount when you start feel discomfort. Your feet will be free of pain for up to two hours per use. Whether you’re standing on your feet all day, running errands, or simply making your way through the work day, foot pain can occur in even the most comfortable and sensible shoes. Sole Serum is the perfect solution, with its blend of natural and active ingredients to safely relieve foot pain for up to two hours per use. The power of lidocaine not only blocks the foot’s pain signals from reaching the brain, but also helps to reduce inflammation. It also includes natural ingredients to help soothe your skin and leave your feet feeling refreshed. Your feet will thank you!” Click | here | to read more about their philosophy.

But here’s my philosophy: Wear whatever makes you feel beautiful because life is WAY too short to not to.

That Edgy Thing

IMG_6676_Fotor_Collage IMG_6632IMG_6681 IMG_6633 IMG_6650IMG_6678 IMG_6662Today I decided to go for that edgy thing that people go for nowadays. Some pull it off better than others. I think I may be part of that “other” group because being all rocker chic isn’t something I think I’m good at. I do feel tough when I throw on my blacked out combat boots though. That’s the beauty of having all sorts of different styles of shoes. They bring out something in me that’s different every single day. Every shoe in my closet serves a unique purpose, a different meaning. This outfit took me back to 2013 when all I wore were my black skinny jeans and combat boots. This outfit was a normal, almost daily thing for me back then. I have blog posts to prove it. 2015 is all about creams, light grey’s and blush tones. Dressing rocker chic sends a strong message to people that you’re not one to mess with on that particular day. It sends the message that, maybe, you’re in the mood to be a little melancholy. Edgy to me is being mysterious. Who’s that girl in the fur jacket and skinny jeans? Though it may seem that my goal for this outfit was to be very avant-garde, trust me, it wasn’t my first priority. It was just non-inspiring day, the weather wasn’t on my side (dark & gloomy), and my combat boots just happened to be staring me in the face saying “Take me for a walk.” So I did. That’s all that this outfit meant and I just happened to take pictures to capture it. But really, can’t a girl like me, feminine and petite, dress edgy once in awhile and not be questioned? Fashion has all sorts of different faces: Today’s face was edgy. Surprise.

Embrace your edgy side ladies, you don’t have to have it together all day every day. Let your hair down, smudge up your eyeliner, and rock those skinny jeans. The world wants to see you a little irritable and raw once in a while. Perfection is so overrated.
