Carrie Bradshaw’s Apartment

IMG_0653IMG_0663 IMG_0649 IMG_0673On our last day in the city, there was just one final destination on my to do list: Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment. We came, we saw…we took blog pictures. I feel so complete inside knowing that I visited the sight where my queen lived. Sex & The City has been one of my favorite shows for as long as I can remember. I may not be intrigued by the scandalous side of the show but the fashion and friendships? Ya, I’m all about that. The street, the steps, the window…it was everything I had imagined it to be. Everything was so picture perfect and I’m so happy that I had the chance to go there. Just around the corner was a crepe shop and I was not about to pass up a New York crepe. It was one of the most delicious strawberry nutella crepes I have ever tasted. Right after our short but sweet trip to Carrie’s place and the Crepe shop I went to the Anthropologie in Chelsea Market, obviously. I didn’t expect the Chelsea Market to be what it was. It’s underground cafe’s, shops and restaurants were so unique. I didn’t want to leave! I cannot wait to go back to really explore the Chelsea Market and all of it’s goodness.

Retro In The City

IMG_0555 IMG_0571 IMG_0564 IMG_0568 IMG_0558 IMG_0582 IMG_0575

One of the many many MANY reasons that I love New York City is that you can dress up head to toe and have a photo shoot in the middle of the street and no one even blinks an eye. I got a few stares but none compared to the ones that I get in Denver. It’s like “Have you never seen anyone take a photo before?” Geez. It’s totally the norm in NYC to vlog and take pictures. I felt completely fine whipping out my camera and talking to myself. I was also “in the zone” when taking blog pictures, I wasn’t uncomfortable at all. I felt totally myself and accepted. That’s what New York is all about isn’t it? Ugh. I cannot wait for the day that I call NYC my home.

It’s time to get my head out of the clouds and back to real life. I haven’t had a phone for over two days now, which might explain my lack of Instagram posts and annoying snapchats. I dropped my phone in the toilet and no that’s not the first time I’ve ever done that. Anyways, my phone is toast and I’m waiting on my replacement one to come in which might be a little bit. So, that’s my life right now. I’ll be honest, being without a phone has been kind of amazing. It’s so refreshing not knowing what is going on in the world. I kind of recommend you throwing your phone in the toilet. I had no idea how much I needed to get away from the internet and the constant connection from people. I feel lighter. I might need to do this more often. 😉

The Cocktail Dress

IMG_0590 IMG_0595 IMG_0612 IMG_0597 IMG_0610 IMG_0594 IMG_0638I don’t think I’ve ever owned a proper cocktail dress. I’ve for sure never had cocktails in a cocktail dress until this day. Oh, the joys of being 21. I’ve had this darling black and white number tucked away in my closet for over 3 months, patiently waiting for August 23rd to come around. When the moment finally came to take this beauty out of it’s plastic garment bag, I was beyond excited to finally rock it in my favorite city on my favorite day. If I had to pick one dress to wear for the rest of my life, I’d pick this one. I know that says a lot but it’s true. From the black peek-a-boo straps to the satin material, to the peplum sleeves: This dress was made to make amazing memories in. That’s exactly what happened.

I will never forget what I was wearing when Wyatt proposed. That moment and this dress are so so special to me. I truly cannot wait to pass this special dress down to my daughter someday.

The Mustard Girl

IMG_0503 IMG_0507 IMG_0527 IMG_0501 IMG_0498 IMG_0511

I cannot take any credit for the title of this outfit post because it all goes to my brother who decided to call me “The Mustard Girl” all day long. Hi Nick. I wasn’t mad at all because I think the name is kind of cute. So here I am, with my mustard co-ordinate outfit and all, ready to tell you all about the adventures taken in this outfit in New York City.

This show stopping outfit was perfect to go bike riding around Central Park. Besides getting engaged, this was my absolute favorite part of my birthday trip. I felt like I truly belonged in the city, soaring so fast on my cute baby blue bike with my favorite people riding beside me. I didn’t want this moment to end. I was so sad when our journey around Central Park ended but that sadness didn’t last long because we went straight to 5th Avenue to do a little birthday shopping. I spent more than I intended to at Zara. I have never been inside an actual Zara store, online shopping only, so I went a little crazy in there on numerous occasions. No shame though.

SoHo Girl

IMG_0449 2 IMG_0462 IMG_0446 IMG_0454 IMG_0450 IMG_0460 IMG_0448 IMG_0433

Day 3 in Manhattan was just magical as day one and day two. Freshly engaged and ready to sight see my favorite city in the country with my fiancé. I don’t think life could get any better than this, I really really don’t. We began day three, a Monday, sleeping in from the crazy night before where we celebrated our engagement with drinks and seafood. We went to see the 9/11 Memorial which was a sight I had yet to see. The museum was moving and powerful. I left feeling so lucky to be alive but so saddened that so many people couldn’t live to see today. If you’re visiting anytime soon, I really recommend stopping by. Afterwords I ate one of the best hot dogs at a food stand and strawberry, mango, and banana smoothie.

We headed towards SoHo, the love of my life, to continue shopping and soaking in the NYC vibes. Little Italy was where I fell in love with a little Japanese owned crepe shop. I have no idea how or when I stumbled upon this little hole in the wall but it became my addiction for the next few days. I even became friends with the girl that worked there. Oh, how I wish I could put that yummy crepe shop in my back pocket and take it with me wherever I go. SO GOOD!

After a long, long day of shopping and walking around Soho, we stopped at “The Soho Park” to grab a bite to eat. It was there I had my first ever cosmopolitan. It was a lot more stout than what I had imagined but delicious nonetheless. I was hating how fast my trip was going. I wanted the world to stop in it’s tracks so that I could enjoy the city that I love just a little bit longer. But it was inevitable, the night ended and it was time for bed only to wake to another glorious morning in Manhattan and another jam-packed day of excitement.
