Dark NYFW Look

Dark. Romantic. Bold. Mysterious. This sums up the captivating SS17 collection of Katie Gallagher. I absolutely loved being this grungy girl for the night, dressed up in a very haute couture inspired outfit. It was something completely out of my comfort zone, yet, not at all outside my comfort zone. I would dress up, ready for a runway show every single day if I could.

Supporting smaller designers is the way to go. They work so hard and it amazes me the amount of time and effort that goes into designing and following through with a runway show. Go her. For following her dreams and taking risks. SO INSPIRING.

About Katie Gallagher – Eclipse SS17
Secretive, unknown, mysterious, Black, the darkest color yet the color with no color at all, represents both full absorption and complete absence of light, evil and elegance. Constantly inspired by this hue that has no hue, Katie Gallagher’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection, Eclipse, is her third all-black collection, followed by last season’s all black collection, Veiled and her initial collection, S/S 2010, Veil.
Gallagher’s current monochromatic collection relies on textures and subtle details, highlighting her obsessions with gothic architecture, Harry Clarke illustrations and traditional Catholic rituals and symbols. She complements these heavy themes with lightweight fabrics and whimsical embroidery.
Through Eclipse, Gallagher combines Swiss Dot sheer jackets with delicate lace and pony fur, English tulle skirts and tops feature embroidered hearts, dots and crosses. Gallagher pairs gathered, twisted seams with grosgrain ribbons and silver zippers, defining her SS17 collection.

I had such a blast with my bestie, viewing the collection, meeting our Instagram friends for the first time. It was a magical night that ended in lots of laughs and new friends.

My Vanity Fair Photo Shoot Story

Hello.

There’s something about a sweet floral dress. This one is unbelievably affordable AND comfortable, priced under $35 and ready for your next girls night, date night and even wedding! I first saw this dress on my favorite Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristow (Not that I watch the Bachelor or anything) on one of her latest Instagram posts. She wore this darling off the shoulder number to her friends wedding and right then and there I knew I had to have it. I love it all: The colors, the breathable fabric, the cold shoulder detail. IT’S JUST GOOD.

Let’s chit chat about my Vanity Fair photo shoot for a second shall we? Yes, you read that correctly. Let’s start from the beginning. It was the very first day of fashion week, Wyatt and I were in Chelsea on his lunch break, just doing our own photo shoot for my blog, minding our own business when this guy comes up to us asking to take photos of me for Vanity Fair magazine! He never mentioned what edition it will be or when it will be published but I’m assuming it will featured on their Fashion Week Recap that will hopefully be out soon! Keep an eye out!

One moment your shopping for flowers in a beautiful body-con dress and the next your doing a photo shoot with Vanity Fair. That’s NYC for you.

With love,

Color Block

As you’re reading this I am probably attending my very first New York Fashion Week fashion show. To be completely honest, I am going into this exciting and chic experience completely blind. I have no idea what to expect, what to do, and worst of all: WHAT TO WEAR. With all these mixed emotions about NYFW what stands out more than anything is how grateful I feel for this opportunity. You could say this was a dream of mine, to attend NYFW, and here we are. Finally.

I cannot wait to tell you more about NYFW once it’s over. I was invited to only a few shows this season, I think it’s all I can currently handle anyway but I’ll be sure to Snap and Instagram the entire time. With so much happening in my life at the moment (new job, new atmosphere) it all comes with growing pains: Uncertainty, strains in relationships, financial obligations etc. My brain is occupied to it’s absolute maximum capacity and I’m still deciding on whether or not that’s a good thing. When so much is going on, good or bad, I stick to what I know when it comes to keeping my look chic. I stay grounded with shift dresses. This one in particular is beyond comfortable while still remaining city chic.

Sheets To Streets

IMG_4882 IMG_4872 IMG_4908 IMG_4889

Who would have thought that going outside in your pajamas would be acceptable and fashion forward? Honey, it’s 2016. There’s no limits or restrictions anymore. Sheets to streets is all the rave nowadays. Don’t knock it until you try it. I’ve seen may takes on this trend, this lingerie-esque dress being one of them. It’s not technically lingerie but with it’s subtle lace inserts throughout and feminine floral design it could definitely be mistaken as actual lingerie. I can’t wait to explore this trend more deeply, possibly trying out a silky pajama top with distressed jeans or pajama-like rompers with some dressy heels. This sky is the limit!

Pajamas on the streets? Count me in!

Dumbo? Always.

IMG_4745 IMG_4729 IMG_46994 IMG_4714

It’s official. We have fallen in love with DUMBO, Brooklyn.

Dumbo stands for Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass.

Don’t worry, I learned that just yesterday. We’ve only graced Dumbo with our presence twice since moving to New York, however, it’s been one of our favorite spots. We love the atmosphere, food, and cobble stone streets. There’s a restaurant on Front Street called “Front Street Pizza” that has everything you could possibly want: Sandwiches, Pizza, Pasta, Soup, and Salads. Don’t let the actual restaurant itself or it’s aesthetic fool you…the food is BOMB and they give you a ton of it for the price.

About the look: You already know my love, more like obsession, with jumpsuits. I absolutely love the femininity of the floral design with a touch ruffle. It’s material is so soft and silky, it will leave you feeling comfortable and sexy all night long!
