Mustard Please

IMG_3002 IMG_30229 IMG_3030 IMG_30227 IMG_3031 IMG_3004

Ironically enough, I not a fan of mustard. I’ve never been. There’s something about it’s odd sour taste that leaves me reaching for some ketchup or even ranch. That icky condiment makes me cringe but oh man, oh man do I love wearing it. Mustard yellow has forever been my favorite color. I’m pretty sure since the beginning of time actually. I’ve been told I’m lucky enough to sport this color. It’s something to do with my skin tone and hair color but heck, I would wear it regardless. I love being that ray of sunshine, that hint of happiness that you can spot in a big crowd. There’s something so satisfying being the odd one out and being bold in a sea of ordinary. A hair trend that I’ve picked up on lately, and one that I’ve secretly loved forever, are the two “Princess Leia” buns on my head. Again, it gives me a weird sense of confidence because I know that no one else will be sporting it. Believe it or not, I get loads of compliments when I wear them out and about. I’m sure they’re probably thinking in their heads, “Oh this poor girl” but that doesn’t bother me.

I was told once that I use my sense of fashion and outfitting skills to hide the fact that I’m actually very insecure inside. To some level they were correct but honestly, I see nothing wrong in finding something that you absolutely love, something that makes you feel so vibrant and alive and using that to somehow give you the extra set of confidence that you might lack. I don’t see anything wrong with being insecure, quiet, and introverted on the inside while portraying the exact opposite on the outside. Hey, if something takes you out of the box you create around yourself and makes you feel alive and free then I say YOU GO GIRL!

Except if that thing is drugs. Don’t do drugs.

Sunday Stripes

IMG_2963 IMG_2978 IMG_2982 IMG_2977 IMG_2971 IMG_2955

Oh Target. Why do you have to be so good? Every time Wyatt and I go on a Target run I always stumble upon some great buys that are impossible to resist. I found this striped tee on our latest endeavor to Target while on the phone with my Maid of Honor. At the moment I decided on this black and white print but now that I’m thinking about it, I might have to go back and stock up on a few more. Why? Why do I need more basic tee’s added to my wardrobe? Because they’re just $6, that’s why. I spend more on a Chipotle burrito. I believe this is the “Mossimo” brand that makes up the majority of Target’s inventory. I love this brand personally. The material of this top is incredibly soft and comfy.

I wanted to rock this tee but I wanted to do so in a chic street style manner. So… I threw on my new distressed midi skirt and stopped by my local Whole Foods, bought these bouquet of roses for myself and went on with my day. I just love the contrast of the roses and my lipstick against this grey background. The striped tee neutralizes everything while bringing some pattern along with it. Not to mention that my current read, “Me Before You” matches this set up perfectly. This was all accidental by the way.

I’m just about halfway done with my book and I’m in love so far. I love fiction books based on romance and adventure. I really love that the movie for it comes out soon. My plan is to finish it before the movie premiers and watch it on it’s opening day! The book is ALWAYS better than the movie but it’s still so amazing to see the book that you’ve read for weeks come to life right before your eyes. If you’re looking for something to read and you’re a bit of a romantic, you need this book.

Here’s The Buzz

IMG_2342 IMG_2325 IMG_23449 IMG_2334 IMG_2339 IMG_23347

If you’re looking for a conversation starter, an icebreaker…you can stop looking now. This quirky printed top does all of the talking. I love bees! Only when they’re printed on a button down, not flying after me. The one and only time I’ve ever gotten bit by a bee, I mean giant wasp, I was around 10 years old in a summer art program at my hometown’s community college and cried like a big baby in front of the entire class. I’ve since then not only been terrified of bees not just because of the pain but because of the embarrassment that comes along with it. It’s clear that I have a love/hate relationship with bees but my love for this button-down trumps all. I’ve trying to make fun clothing purchases lately. There’s only so many basics and “wardrobe staples” that a girl can have.

A Girl And Her Pineapple

IMG_2889 IMG_2894 IMG_2876 IMG_2874 IMG_2897

Meet Stanley, Stanley the pineapple. I brought Stanley around with me everywhere I went when in Hawaii. The funny thing is that I don’t actually like eating pineapple all that much but I do love a good photo shoot with one. It’s like the perfect accessory when galloping around town. A guy even asked me, “What in the world are you doing with that pineapple?” Well sir, I don’t even know.

I miss Hawaii, I miss the ocean but what I miss the most is the beautiful scenery. Big, bold and beautiful flowers were on every corner. I felt like I was dreaming. The vibrant colors nearly hurt my eyes. Talk about a fashion bloggers dream.

Let’s talk about checked print for a moment shall we? I’m giving you a heads up now- this fun pattern will be this summers hot trend. I’ve already seen all sorts of variety of the checked pattern in nearly every clothing store I’ve come across and I’m not hating it. I’ve been a sucker and have already purchased enough of it to last me all summer. This dress is one of those purchases and I’m in love.

Sincerely,

Tropical Vacation Outfit

IMG_28188 IMG_2827 IMG_2830 IMG_2824

Tropical Vacation Packing Tip: Only pack flow-y, easy breezy clothing because you won’t want to wear anything else. Just the thought of putting something constricting or form fitting while I was in Hawaii made me cringe. I felt best in my maxi dresses and loose t-shirts. The heat is the main reason you don’t have to wear anything too tight and let’s not forget about the gnarly sunburn you’ll get on your first day of your honeymoon..or was that just me?

Wyatt and I were too eager and did a little sun bathing by the ocean and got burnt our very first day of our honeymoon, I don’t have any regrets though because mine turned into a perfect golden tan just 2 days later but note to future self: you can’t ever pack enough sunscreen.

I bought this beautiful light teal colored maxi dress not just for the honeymoon but for everyday after that. I cannot get over how comfortable this dress is. I’ve always loved maxi dresses, I just don’t own enough in my closet. I’m so happy with this dress purchase because it was under $20! CRAZY! Find out where I purchased this summer staple in the links below.
