B is for best blouse ever. Bulky, boxy, blouse-y, you know name it, I want to wear it. I’ve always been a fan of shapeless pieces. I love oversized blouses and dresses more than the average girl should. I think what I love about this blouse in particular is the femininity it brings to any outfit. The relaxed butterfly sleeves make me feel like such a girl but completely relaxed all at the same time. Nothing is better than that in my opinion. I really wanted to dress up this light blue beauty to the max to show you what it’s capable of and what colors look best with this shade of blue. I plan on wearing it with many other bottoms besides this statement tulle skirt. My staple black skinny jeans or my current favorite bow-tie shorts are great candidates as well. The possibilities are nearly endless.
Are you someone who feels like you never get a break to just…be. School, work, appointments, life: All these things are great but really time consuming and quite honestly, exhausting. I had one day off this week and it went by so fast. If you’re interested in what I did on that spectacular day, try not to get too excited because all I did was watch Netflix…all by myself. I’ve been hooked on this incredibly cheesy/horrible series and I’m not even going to tell you the name because I’m that embarrassed that it’s guilty pleasure. OH! And I made a birthday cake…just for me. It’s not even my birthday any time soon. I needed a day to just be myself and to do absolutely nothing. A day to lay in bed, pig out on junk food, and wear nothing but leggings and a $2 t-shirt from Target. These days are where I recharge and regroup for another crazy but rewarding week of blogging and working.
Once I’ve done all the necessary things to recharge my battery, I get back on that fashion blogger grind with a bright statement piece to make me feel alive again. There really is nothing like going from a slob-ka-bob on the couch to getting all primped up in a fuchsia romper and taking on the city by storm. I always think dressing up in something simple but bright is so refreshing. You should really try it sometime.
When I first saw this dress appear on my computer screen, I knew that it had to be mine. I fell in love with the Spanish vibes so much that I wish I was actually running around in Spain wearing this dress. Someday I WILL go back and it WILL be magical. I always love finding pieces that reflect my heritage. My whole life I never quite felt like a Hispanic girl. My porcelain skin and my lack of a hispanic vocabulary is reason enough to feel just like a typical white girl amongst my gorgeous dark skin and spanish speaking family. I usually question if I’m adopted but then I look at my mother, who is my twin, and I realize I’m right where I belong. That’s the beauty of fashion. It’s an opportunity to become who you are or even better, become a better you. I only own a few Hispanic inspired pieces in my wardrobe but this one takes the cake. I can’t wait to discover more and more to pass on to my nieces and children. This “off the shoulder trend” is going global and it’s unstoppable right now. I’m loving everything about the 2015 trends so far. I’ve embraced every single one from the bow-tie trousers, Indigo colors, and now, off the shoulder tops.
Oh why hello there my friends. You might have noticed I’ve been away for awhile. Maybe a week or so. I want to sincerely apologize for the lack of posts this past week. I haven’t missed a blog post in MONTHS! There are a few reasons as to why I’ve been away and they’re all forgiving ones. I went back home to New Mexico for Mother’s Day. I just needed to be with my family and it was the best trip I’ve had in a long time. I got my green chili and family fix. During this trip, I didn’t wear one ounce of makeup and wore nothing but grey t-shirts and black leggings. It was so nice and relaxing to not worry about my appearance or outfits for once. I also got a nice trim and color while I was there! Thanks mom! My hair feels so fresh again. Another reason as to why I’ve been away: My boyfriend turned 21 yesterday! Part-aye. I cannot believe how old we’re getting. We started dating when we were both 14 years old. Celebrating this huge milestone for him was so amazing and we both had the best day. I cannot wait for the next 21 years. I’ve also been away because the horrible weather Denver has been having. It’s been raining non-stop. It’s beautiful when I’m sleeping but a girl has to take pictures and there’s no way I’m letting my expensive camera get wet. So the weather has NOT been on my side. Once the sun comes out again, I’ll be posting some of my newest summer pieces and I’m so excited to share them with you all.
These pictures were taken months ago. I forgot that they even existed.
Culottes (•Coo-Lah-Tss•) are garments that hang like a skirt but are actually pants (A divided skirt). This trend has been unstoppable this year and it was the one trend that I never really felt like embracing. I knew if I bought a pair of culottes I would be stepping out my comfort zone and I would probably never wear them. So, I went a bought an affordable pair at Forever21 to get my toes a little wet before just diving in and my first thoughts were “I feel naked” and then those thoughts turned into, “Oh my gosh, I am in love, where can I buy more?” Every single store has displayed their own versions of this wide leg trend so finding a pair shouldn’t be too hard. I really recommend you fashion dare devils to go into a store and try on a pair because they don’t seem like much on the hanger but when you put them on you realize that they’re so fashion forward while being beyond comfortable at the same time. As you can see in this post, I went for a monochromatic look, which is always the safest way to go when trying out new things. Culottes are pretty simple to style. I would tuck in a simple white button up and add bold accessories and throw on a cropped blazer for an extra bonus. I’m currently on the hunt for more culottes to add to my wardrobe. I’ve linked a few of my favorites down below. Be bold, be brave and try out this fabulous trend.
