Indigo Vibes

You HAVE to love a 3 item look that isn’t a typical t-shirt and jeans outfit. 1)Top 2)Overalls 3)Statement shoes. Overalls are known for transforming a simple outfit into a comfortable chic one. Every girl needs a black pair. The possibilities are nearly endless. I love how we simply have to throw on a pair of overalls and automatically feel like we’re stepping out of the box but not too far out of the box either. It’s all about being fashionable AND approachable. I like to wear my overalls with simple pieces most of the time, just to enhance them and have more of the focus on my fab overalls. I choose to wear an outfit like this when going out on a casual lunch date with some friends. Most of mine and Wyatt’s friends aren’t into fashion as much as I am so I like to feel comfortable around them and their 3 item look but I never sacrifice who I am at the same time. I will never skip out on the lipstick or the heels. That’s just impossible. All of my friends are understanding of some of my outrageous outfits and some even praise me for dressing uniquely and I could not be more thankful for that. If the day comes that a friend doesn’t like the way I am…see ya later LOSER! Just kidding, but really. That would never happen anyways considering I don’t have very many friends AND the friends I do have are incredible so I’m good “overall.” HA! I crack myself up.

Dusty Blue

IMG_7308 IMG_7355IMG_7342IMG_7318IMG_7351 IMG_7326 IMG_7328 IMG_7333 IMG_7347IMG_7335

Trend Alert: Blue.

All shades, shapes, and colors of blue are all the rage right now.

Denim. Indigo. Chambray. Dusty Blue. I don’t think I’ve seen these arrangements of colors more in my life until right now. Every clothing store you walk into displays denim jackets, chambray tops, indigo pants, the list goes on and on. I’ve never owned so much blue in my closet until this season. I can’t get enough of it. Blue goes hand in hand with menswear but for just for today, I wanted to show my girly side and prove you that you don’t have to wear pinks and purples to look feminine. A tulle skirt and sleek leather jacket will do the trick just fine. Blue is the new pink. You can walk into any store and pick up your perfect shade of blue but only Alexandra Grecco has this unique shade of Dusty Blue. This skirt is beautiful and can be worn with ANY color. Trust me, I’ll prove myself to you in future posts. This kind of “blue-grey” is the sweetest and most stylish color of 2015. You better hop on the bandwagon now or you’ll miss out. Alexandra Grecco, a New York-based vintage-inspired womenswear line, has much more to explore on their site (here.) I desperately needed a city backdrop for this look. Since this company is based out of the most gorgeous city in America I had to pretend that I was in NYC just for a moment. Like the color of this skirt, I was in the clouds.

Striped & High Waisted

IMG_7252 IMG_7264 IMG_7272 IMG_7290IMG_7260IMG_7263 IMG_7296_Fotor_CollageIMG_7273Will there ever come a day that I’m not on the hunt for menswear pieces? No. Never.

Menswear. You’ve heard this word before. It’s my all time favorite trend. You’ve also heard that before. Be prepared to see more menswear inspired outfit posts on my page. (Like you haven’t seen enough.) Menswear takes everything to the next level. It’s sleek. It’s sharp. I feel so powerful and trendy in menswear. I don’t have to show off a bunch of skin to turn heads. Nope. These trousers and my Urban Outfitters button up did plenty of that. I just love the contradiction of wearing bright orange red lipstick and curly hair with such a serious outfit. I’m having fun. That’s what it’s all about. Okay, I cannot get enough of these ZARA high waisted pants. I could live in them for the rest of my life. It’s such a good feeling investing in something with top notch material. Unlike most bow tie pants that are out there right now, these ones were made to last forever. They’re thick without being too heavy. They’re soft without being too cheap. They’re comfortable without looking like sweats. They are simply perfect. The olive green color caught my eye, not because it may resemble puke, but because it’s such a statement color without being too “in your face.” A very subtle statement piece and I’m all about that. Believe it or not but this shade of olive green can be paired with more than a handful of other colors. It’s like jeans…but better. What I love about high waisted trousers is that you can pretty much pair whatever you want with them: Button ups, crop tops, sweaters, long sleeves, turtlenecks. The list is endless… and so is my love for this outfit. So there.

All Wrapped Up

IMG_7167IMG_7144IMG_7168 IMG_7156 IMG_7164IMG_7171 IMG_7166IMG_7173I’m not a fan of coats. They’re heavy, they’re bulky and they simply ruin my outfits. To stay warm and chic in chilly Colorado I have to get a little creative. I stay cozy by layering up, wearing my oversized blazers or rocking my leather jacket but sometimes those things get a little old and boring. My new favorite alternative to staying warm is getting all wrapped up in an oversized scarf. We might as well call this thing a fashion blanket. It’s very large in size but oh so comfortable to cuddle in all day. Who knew that walking around with a “blanket” attached to you would be socially acceptable. Don’t be intimidated by the oversized look. It’s the latest, and my personal favorite trend. You might was well embrace this relaxed look while it lasts. Who doesn’t love throwing something on, synching it with a belt and adding some boyfriend jeans. It’s like a dream come true to me. Exploring your city in a bright, statement scarf makes the taxi drives, crowds of people, and loud cars a little more enjoyable and do I dare to say…chic. I felt like such a city girl in this outfit and the backdrop took me back to strolls in Soho, Manhattan with my mom. We had the best time waking up unbelievably early to get the best seat at the local cafe and afterwards we did some major damage in DASH. Can I just pretend for a second that I live there? Ok, daydream over. But seriously, I so belong there. The city backdrop was made for me. Someday. Until then, the Denver scene will do.

Quirky Prints & Tulle

IMG_5305 IMG_5329IMG_5306 IMG_5308IMG_5326 IMG_5312 “Quirky” is a word that I find myself using almost every single day. Weirdly enough, I don’t believe I’ve ever typed that word into a blog post. Well, there’s a first for everything. This pug printed top is the definition of quirky. It’s odd. It’s unconventional and that’s exactly what I’m about. Not to mention the fact that it’s mustard yellow: my all time favorite color. I get stares from a million miles away when I wear this top. I don’t blame them because it really is unexpected. That’s what I love about Anthropologie. I can always count on the designers to make me feel unique. Being out of place sometimes isn’t a bad thing. What do I always say about stepping our of your comfort zone? It will surprise you to find that, yes, you can rock that weird dog printed shirt, and yes, you can take on the world as well. I went overboard (like I normally do) and layered a striped turtleneck underneath. I would have left it there and just threw on some skinny jeans but no, that’s not how I roll. I threw on this eye-catching tulle skirt (as if the top wasn’t bizarre enough) and my outfit was complete. Sticking to the basic black and white and adding a pop of color will never do you wrong. For some strange reason the chaos works. You should try it sometime.
