Sweet & Simple

IMG_8342 IMG_8352 IMG_8336 IMG_8355 IMG_8334 IMG_8354 IMG_8349

There’s a little bit of something sweet in this post. I can’t quite put my finger on it. I don’t know if it’s the nude, glossy lip or the frilly hair accessory but I think a look like this is perfect for my young, high school and/or middle school subscribers. This outfit won’t get you sent to the principles office for being inappropriate, that’s for sure. I know I’ve been sent there once or twice because I totally disagreed on the length of my shorts or dress but we’ve all been there right? This look is conservative, fun and once again…sweet. It’s great inspiration for my younger audience but I can definitely see this ensemble looking fabulous for all ages. I love how well chambray and mustard yellow mesh together. I think this specific color combo is ideal for Spring AND Fall. They are perfect transition colors to make outfitting a lot easier from season to season. Call me an outfit repeater but I’ll be wearing this look during the fall as well. Not to be corny, but I’m going to leave this post as it is, short and sweet. Talk to you all soon. Indigo Girl

IMG_8308 IMG_8319 IMG_8310 IMG_8321 IMG_8305 IMG_8323 IMG_8304 IMG_8309Just call me Indigo Girl.

Here’s yet another post showcasing my obsession with the Indigo trend. Like I said before, I dive head first into trends because that’s the only way to really know what you love and what you don’t love. Indigo? Ya, I love. Some clothing items don’t shine very bright when they’re hanging on a hanger. This romper was one of those pieces. It was displayed as an Indigo blob of nothing important but as it turns out it’s currently one of my favorite pieces in my closet. This is why it is so important to give a piece of clothing a chance and try them on. I don’t know about you but this romper screams spring and summer. I’m pretty sure that I wore this little guy 3 times last week because it’s so easy to pull of and not to mention comfortable. Based on experience and feedback this romper suits the smaller chested the best. Ladies with a larger bust have mentioned some major tugging in that area. Every once in awhile my smaller chest takes the win. I would be devastated if this romper didn’t work because it’s going to be summer go to with a classic red lip. Be prepared to see this romper on my Instagram a lot. Speaking of which, go follow me @karissamariie

I Got Eyelash Extensions!

IMG_8297_2 IMG_8275_2 IMG_8274_2 IMG_8289_2 IMG_8286_2 IMG_8299_2_Fotor_Collage_FotorEvery girl wants to have eyelashes like a Disney princess does. I’m sure most of you can agree that not all of us were born with long, voluminous lashes. It’s a struggle almost every morning to coat layers and layers of mascara. Mascara promises you that you’re lashes will reach a pristine level of lash domination. They all promise that you’re lashes will be pump, extreme, and amplified times ten. I’ve tried them all and have been left hopeless and nearly lash-less. It’s extremely damaging to your eyelashes to remove those loads and loads of mascara that we just spent forever putting on but it’s also very damaging to use an eyelash curler. I feel like I’ve used every technique in the book to achieve longer, shinier, and fuller lashes. I’ve even tried heating my eyelash curler with a blow dryer before hand and it didn’t turn out pretty. While I was doing my research on “lash success” I found out that strip lashes are SO BAD! The adhesive glue used to stick the strip lash onto your natural lash is one of the worst things you can do to your eye area. Most people come to find out that they’re actually allergic to the glue and one of the many side effects is blindness…. BLINDNESS! No thank you.

Maybe it’s Maybelline, maybe it’s just not.

The option of eyelash extensions has just been recently introduced to me. I didn’t understand the magnitude at which this trend was growing and how many companies were starting to offer eyelash extensions. It’s a beauty craze at the moment and I honestly see this trend lasting forever…or at least until they come up with something better. (I doubt that.)

I had so many questions: How long do they last? How much does it cost? Where do you find the best esthetician ? Is it worth it? It’s when I reached out to Oxana Hull from Mile High Lashes in Denver, CO that all my questions were answered. I had done my research on Mile High Lashes before hand because I wanted to make sure that I was going somewhere where they not only took good care of my eyelashes but also took care of me. I wanted an esthetician that knew what she/he was doing and more. All the reviews I read on the internet were nothing but 5 stars. Before I had ever considered getting lash extensions, I had gotten a few recommendations from 3 or 4 ladies that  said they absolutely loved Oxana and they loved their new lashes. I 100% agree with them.

IMG_1812-3Oxana, with her friendly attitude and amazing skin, was so easy to talk to. She really welcomes you with open arms. The first time I saw her to get my “Natural” set of lashes, we talked the entire time. The second time around for a more dramatic lash, she let me rest a little because I woke up really early that morning. She’s so incredibly kind and talented I really wouldn’t trust anyone else with my lashes. Oxana also keeps her station in tip-top shape inside her humble yet bold room where eyelashes come alive! I will continue to get refills from her and no one else.

I mean it ladies. Eyelash extensions is something you have to try once. If it’s not for you, they can be easily removed, pain free. But once you see how dramatic the difference is and how confident and feminine you feel… you won’t turn back! I don’t see the need to wear makeup anymore because my new lashes lift my face and give me such a glow. To make the decision easier for you on whether or not you want to try lash extensions, if you say that I sent you, you get 25% off your visit at Mile High Lashes!

Mascara is SO yesterday.

With love,

Karissa Marie

P.S.

Lash extensions last through a full growth cycle of natural eyelashes, typically six to eight weeks.

An Athletic Touch

IMG_8215_2IMG_8213_2 IMG_8217_2 IMG_8227_2 IMG_8228_2 IMG_8233_2 IMG_8246_2 IMG_8254_2I will admit once in awhile that I need to give my feet a little break. Those poor things have gotten beaten up their entire life. After dancing for about 15 years, I went straight to heels. They’ve never ever had a chance to breathe. I started to notice some nerve pain and I restricted myself from wearing any painful shoes for about a week so that my little footsies can recover. It’s nearly impossible for me to pick out an outfit and that outfit not to be elevated by heels. I knew it would be a challenge but I loved how my high school Nike’s saved the day and actually made the outfit really unique and fun. I really love the idea of throwing on some tennis shoes with a really sophisticated outfit. It’s unexpected and you all know I love that! My lovely Nike’s took this look to a sporty level with it’s small but noticeable athletic touch. I was able to do my thing with comfort and sass.

That’s all for now. I’m falling asleep while typing this. It’s been a long day and will be an even longer day tomorrow so I need to get my zzz’s. One thing that I wanted to mention was that I’m reading “Paper Towns” by John Green and OH MY GOSH, I’m hooked. I love reading books before the movie. It’s so satisfying. This is the first book I’ve had the chance to read in a year. I love reading. I don’t know why I ever stopped. If any of you have any recommendations for the next book I should read please feel free to comment below! I really love mysteries and love stories but I’m open to anything.

Styling Shorts In Spring Time

IMG_8131 IMG_8144 IMG_8123 IMG_8143 IMG_8142 IMG_8141 IMG_8130_2Now that Spring is in full motion and we’re all ready to bust out our short shorts, here’s some inspiration for you on those inspiration-less days. I absolutely love wearing sweaters with shorts. I know at some point during the day, whether it be mornings or evenings, I will get a little chilly. Spring time doesn’t guarantee perfect weather so I like to play it safe and hold back on my tank tops just a little bit longer. That, and I just don’t want to say goodbye to my favorite pullovers. To me, the perfect combo is a relaxed sweater, distressed shorts, and my favorite summer heels. It’s a nearly bulletproof combination. If you’re ever in the mood to lightly spruce up your outfit, throw on a long dainty necklace, a fedora and SHA-BANG! You’re looking fine and fierce.

I hardly ever talk about dressing for my body type or your body type because it’s something that I don’t totally agree with. I think no matter what, big or small, curvy or thin, you should wear whatever you feel like wearing. Shapeless dresses, short shorts, or whatever else you can think of that’s controversial and pertains to only certain body types is hoopla to me. I will wear that makes me feel good and THAT’S THAT! I forgot where I was going with that…give me a second…it will come back to me…………………. OH! I was going to say that there are no rules anymore but if you do have an area of your body that you’re not the biggest fan of, there are ways to manipulate it. For example, I’m insecure about my long, thin arms. I don’t like them so I like to find ways to make them go away or look more full. I did that today by wearing a sweater that’s just half a size too big and scrunched it up to my elbows. It’s like magic. Now the focus can go to my legs rather than my arms and I feel so much more confident.

Tip of the Day: Don’t settle for looks that don’t bring out the best in you. We don’t have time for that.

With Love,
