Mixing it up.

IMG_1288 IMG_1293 IMG_1297 IMG_1299 IMG_1305 IMG_1310

There’s a lot of mixed feelings, I mean textures, in this outfit post. Mixing textures and patterns has always been my favorite and easiest thing to do when I’m feeling stuck in a fashion rut. I go to my closet, turn on my creative side of my brain, and get to work. Putting together a tribal print skirt with a black and white striped tee may be a leap of faith of others but for me it’s going to the grocery store. Once you get in the habit of mixing things up and taking small fashion risks, you will eventually build up the courage to rock whatever type of pattern, color, texture, print you feel like. Don’t set boundaries for yourself. Break those chains and wear whatever you feel like wearing, in moderation of course. Maybe don’t step outside the house in your smiley face leggings and One Direction band tee. That’s a no girlfriend, big no.

This day I decided to keep it feminine and keep it Autumn-like. I really don’t have a choice anymore, it’s October. Adding this shimmered linen tee transforms this look. I don’t know how and I don’t know why but it does. I’ve officially swapped out my plain white tee for this gold one. It makes the plainest pair of blue jeans look like a million bucks. It’s a MUST HAVE!

| Cropped Sweaters with Dresses |The New Thing

IMG_1074IMG_1094 IMG_1077 IMG_1078 IMG_1082 IMG_1085 IMG_1086

My new favorite thing to do is wear sweaters over dresses. A cropped sweater is even better to pair with a flowy dress like this one. It’s one of the newest and easiest trends this fall. Why get rid of all your summer dresses when all you have to do is pair it with some jeans, boots, and throw on a cardi? Innovation at its best ladies. This post is a more girly take on this Anthropologie cropped sweater but trust me I have a post coming soon for all you tomboyish peeps out there. Just don’t forget to Subscribe or like my Facebook page to keep updated with all things Karissa Marie!

Tip of the Day! Play around with your wardrobe, look at your older pieces and merge them into your newer ones. All of the possibilities will surprise you. Have fun with what you have and try not to stress about buying more clothes because trust me, I’m sure you have plenty. Blast some music and put on a fashion show for yourself. I’m sure you’ll come up with some great outfit ideas! But in the meantime, here’s some inspiration.

xoxo,

Karissa

Girls Love Their Polka Dots

IMG_1169IMG_1144 IMG_1146 IMG_1148 IMG_1162 IMG_1164 IMG_1170This outfit may be perfect for fall but I’m a dummy and wore it on a day that felt like summer. Denver won’t make up its mind. It’s 90 degrees one day and 50 degrees the next. This outfit is slightly out of my comfort zone. I say “slightly” because I would honestly wear just about anything but I’m just someone who loves her bold and boxy outfits way more than the flow-ey, relaxed silhouettes. (Actually, it depends on the day. I have fashion bipolar disorder.) I like my straight edges and this outfit is definitely “hippy-er” than what I’m used to. With that said, I’m always incorporating femininity into my looks. I’m a girly girl and we all know that. This girly skirt has been in my closet for I don’t even know how long. I don’t reach for it often but when I do, it never disappoints. Girls love their polka dots. Why? Because polka dots are like sunshine. That’s why.

Typical Fall Outfit

IMG_1105 IMG_1107 IMG_1111 IMG_1113 IMG_1117 IMG_1126 IMG_1130 IMG_1131From the dark lip, the boots, and the purse to match it’s officially a typical fall outfit. Sorry. I can’t help myself sometimes. I think this look is great for almost every type of girl. A country girl like Jessie James would rock this and even someone like Kylie Jenner could pull this off as well. It has a little bit of everything but still so simple at the same time. To be honest, at first I wasn’t happy with this look but then I realized I didn’t have any lipstick on. LIPSTICK CHANGES EVERYTHING. Am I right ladies, or am I right? If you still haven’t taken a dip in the lipstick pool, I suggest you do that…yesterday. Lipstick pulls a basic outfit together and completes the entire look oh so effortlessly. Not to mention the confidence it gives. Give a girl some lipstick and she will conquer the world.

Muah.

IMG_0998I love getting emails and comments from all of you saying you enjoy reading my posts just as much as you enjoy looking at the pictures. I’ve never ever EVER thought of myself as a good writer. I write what I feel, whether it’s witty or honest, I’m strictly being me. Thank you, all 1,170 of you, thank you for allowing me to be myself on here and for loving the non-writer that I am. I will never be one for big words or a large vocabulary. I’m not here to fake it. I’m a dummy when it comes to writing and I think I’ll stick to that. I could never come to MY BLOG and act like someone else. That’s a big no no. I respect other bloggers and just people in general who stay true to themselves. Why be someone else when being you is so much better? I can always assure you that the things I write on here, comes from my own brain and more importantly, my own heart. Always remember that the girl you’re reading is the same girl that’s typing. 100%.

Love you all and again, thank you.

Karissa
