I am happy to tell all of my fellow subscribers that today I am blogging for a cause. A beautiful cause that is and one that is close to my heart.
Benevolent Jewels has collaborated with Barrio Dogs in order to address the issue of animal overpopulation and improving conditions for homeless and unwanted animals in Houston through Unity for a Solution. Unity for a Solution is an effort raised by three established, independent Houston animal welfare organizations: Barrio Dogs, Corridor Rescue, and the Forgotten Dogs of Fifth Ward.
“There are estimated to be between 750,000 and 1.2 million homeless and unwanted animals on Houston’s streets. One of Unity for a Solution’s first priorities is to work with Houston’s elected officials and the city of Houston to bring free and low cost spay and neuter to areas of Houston that are hardest hit by overpopulation. Often, pets that are not spayed or neutered produce unwanted litters that end up on the streets; offering free and low cost spay and neuter to these animals’ owners is a first step in reducing overpopulation. The group will also work to educate and raise public awareness in the communities they serve about proper animal care and the importance of fixing pets” (Taken from Unity for a Solution).
In their efforts to help Houston’s animal overpopulation, Unity for a Solution is aiming to spay and neuter 1,000 animals within the Houston communities by the end of 2013.
I think my Chachi in heaven would be proud to see that I’m blogging for cause to help save and love animals.
